What do you guys think about them?

o i really want to buy some aquarian superkick II or III, because they have a nice fat punchy sound to them and i really want to try them out.

Good for that old school low end thump but I have had bad experiences recording with them. I go back to old trusty Remo Ambassador's. Peace on ya!

yea man, i use the superkick IIs and they're really nice

This is clearly about drum heads and should not be moved. Duh. I use an aquarian on my snare. It is a white dot w/a black sound control ring around the edge. Great attack and sustain. Just enough sound control to knackmout the extra crap.

does the superkick2 really muffle it well or do you still need a pillow or something in it?

TRUST ME SAVE YOUR MONEY! my father and i have been playing drums for a total of 83 years so we decided to try something new. we took the remos off the double basses and the felt strips and put aquariane on the 1969 ludwig psychodelic red set we have, i kept the remo on my sonor, i played the ludwig and it felt like i was hitting a wall, i don't like that. it sounded crappy and i had to use drum mics for out doors at zilker park(i never had to before). i hit my sonor and it kept tone and actually had a little give so i could still do quick tirps and quads. i hate them. i tried them an my snare even worse. stay with remo and felt strips, no pillows no nothing. give the people the tone drums should have and not cardboard box sounds.

They are apparently pretty sic!
I am planning on grabbing some if I can find them in a music shop near me.

Sounds like you tried the completely wrong heads for your needs.

If you watch Roy Burns play jazz with his own heads, he smokes and has gobs of tone. Don't blame the heads for user error.

yeah..which aquarian head did you try anyways?? If you want more tone go for the SK 1, not 2 or 3

I say, play all of them and pick which one you like better.

Personally, I feel that Aquarian heads are the best made of the big three head manufacturers. Remo's quality control issues are far from unknown, but Evans' kinda sneak in the back door. Everyone wonders why their Evans heads detune so easily, here's why. The ends of the counterhoops don't even touch, let connect solidly. Take that little white sticker off sometime and have a look for yourself. More flex in the counterhoop means more problems with tuning. I'm not saying they don't sound good, because they do, just bringing up a point. These reasons, plus the fact that I really like the tone I've found, are why I play Aquarian drum heads. Don't just buy a name, buy the products you want. And when it comes to finding your own personal sound from drumhead selection, believe me when I say that the only way to do it is to buy heads and play them. Which, as I'm sure you can gather, is something that doesn't happen overnight.

I used sk1 on the double basses and Hi-energy heavy coated on the snare. i found what i was looking for though. i changed my sonors remo head for my practice dw sets even emad head and i love it. gess there just not for me. also on the snare i use cloth strips to deadin the ring and i couldn't with the hi-energy other than that the coating is amazing.

I think kitty cat heads are much better. They are hand-crafted in china by people who are paid 1 cent per hour in broken down warehouses. Their best series are cracked, invisi-heads, glass heads, and their new patented stainless steel heads which geat players like Joey Jordinson and Matt Greiner use. I'm seriously thinking of endorsing in this product. I use their invisi-heads. They have no projection or sound for great overall cuz then you can't sound bad cuz nobody can hear you! Kitty Cat Heads are the best!

I personally prefer Aquarian over both Remo and Evans. They make outstanding heads plain and simple.

They are the best heads I've ever played. They have a response that is unique - a "give" factor which makes them a joy to play. Roy Burns and his folks over there at Aquarian have really gone the distance to offer drummers with a host of different heads well suited to many genres.

I grew up playing Remo, and after playing Aquarian, I can't ever see myself going back.

I played Focus X heads for sometime and liked them a lot but could seem to get any time out of them. After a month or so they would just go flat on my and I could only get one tone out of them. I went to Evans heads and don't seem to have that problem, but the Evans heads are a little beefer.

I did however have a lot of problems with the Focus X snare head. I ripped 4 of them and I've never done that with any other head. Even with the problems I had with them, Roy personally called me up to work with me on the problems I was having. You just don't see guys like that any longer. I would try their heads again.

I've had Evans heads for a few years now and they are starting to die out. They were good in the beginning but it seemed that every time I played them, they slowly got worse and worse. But I am planning to switch to Aquarian heads for my toms + snare. I've heard many good things about them, and its worth a shot. Just try it out guys
