Zildjian cymbals - are they any good?
hey i saw a 5 pack of zildjian zbts 14" hi hats 16" crash 18" crash 20" ride for almost nothing €250 brand new... what are these cymbals like i currently have paiste pst5s.. any opinions experiences or comments about these cymbals would be apreciated..... also as a side topic im going to purchase a pearl vision kit is this a good kit? comments apreciated...
(also i only have a crash and hi hats currently i will also be replacing the zbts with A customs in the summer)
i played on my cousins zbt hihats yesterday and they sounded nice.. they were light and responsive brill for the hi temo stuff like fast 16ths but i havnt heard the crash or ride yet any comments about the individual cymbals good and bad are appreciated.. also what genre are the zbts apropriate for or most suited to.. thanks!

in my opinion, stick with the PST5s until you can afford some decent zildjians (if that's the brand what you're going for)
entry level Paistes like the PST5 series beat ZBT and other low-end zildjians by far.

No dip, Zildjians are good. They've been around forever. Sabain was created by a Zildjian (last name)
I've never tried Paiste PST5 or whatever you said so I can't compare though.

you have to be kidding me, i played all 3 major cymbal brands and by far.....by very far Paiste blows away every one of them without a doubt, the PST 5 series makes the ZBT sound like tin cans next to each other, they are awesome cymbals for the money and are extremely durable to punishment.
you sir havent played Paiste cymbals

its all opinion. for my money, paiste isnt where its at. i like sabians...a lot. and most other companies. i do own a couple paistes, and not low end ones, and they just dont seem to fit like i want them to. i like darker and more complex sounds...paiste just doesnt deliver that.

i can respect that cause i have a A custom i dont use cause it doesnt fit my spectrum, its a super nice cymbal but not my deal, and it too god damn loud.

Zildjian builds quality cymbals. If your tight for cash, a beginner set is the way to go. You can always up-grade in the future. Really everyone on here has their favorites when it comes to cymbals. I've had Zildjian ZBT's, my son uses Meinl MCS, a friend use to use PST 5 and 3's and I still have a set of B8's. They all work. If you think it's a good value and it's going to inspire you to play than go for it. Anyone of these listed will serve you well.

I'd hold out and save some more money to purchase used cast cymbals.

you really can't consider this a valid opinion unless you have tried each Paiste series..and I know you haven't. Paiste makes every type of cymbal be it dark, bright, dry, warm, mellow or w/e your looking for. If your looking for a dark sound Anavrin..I suggest the new signature series.

Okay, kiddies, let's calm down. Every major cymbal brand (Sabian, Paiste, Zildjian) has some outstanding values for beginners out there. I have played Zildjian ZBTs,and they are okay. Never had experience with the Paiste PST-5, so I really can't comment on those. I'll be they sound great for the money, though.
The bottom line is this: If you are looking for entry-level cymbals, no matter what you get, they are not going to sound as good as the pro-level stuff. In a real sense, if you are buying a cymbal from the "Big 3" on an entry level budget, you can't go wrong. You'll get something to hit that won't sound like a trashcan. It'll sound close, but not like a trashcan. Let's not argue that childish "Who is best" thing again, please. Thank you.
John, let us know what you get, and give us a review, mate!

As far as I am concerned, Zildjians are THE ONLY cymbals.

I use Zildjian Custom As and I love them, but I am also looking to expand and buy either Meinl Byzances or Paiste Sigs. I've tried both and love both... But back to your question, I would stick with your PST 5s until you can afford high end Zildjians.
