Bicycle throne or round? I can't remember the particular brand (probably because im usually sitting on it) but I use a Bicycle style throne. I was wondering what you guys use and why if there is a reason. Also, anyone here use backrests?

I use bicycle. I like it better, it seems I keep balance easier on bicycle.

I use Tama's HT130 throne, very comfortable with plenty of cushin, a mix between bicycle and round, and
with an option for backrest, but I do not use the backrest. I have used many others, but for my two pennies,
I will stay with the HT130, just the best I have ever used.

I think it's purely a matter of taste, either can and will work fine. The major difference I've found is, on a bike seat you can sit further back, getting more support and cushion, while on a round throne, you have to (or should, at least) sit closer to the edge, using it more like a zazen cushion than a seat.

Which would mean I'm a lazy sob... yeah, that sounds about right!

pork pie bike throne. no back rest.

i don't know how anyone could play with a back rest.

I have a Roc-n-Soc saddle-type throne with a backrest, and it's great. I had a standard round Tama throne before that and the R-n-S is much more comfortable. It took me a while to get used to playing with the backrest but now I don't even notice it and my posture is better.

I use a Roc-n-Soc nitro which is a bicycle throne. I prefer to have the contour of the throne and some bounce. Peace on ya!

I am a fan of the round, myself. I don't care for the bicycle seats because, honestly, I'm a big guy, and The Boys don't get along with the bike seat. The last time I used one it was at a rehearsal. When we were done, I stood up and they were numb. It freaked me out bad. Sorry to be so graphic, but the wife and I want kids someday and I can't risk the family jewels.

throne make it easier to play fast double bass?

Roc-n-Soc nitro bicycle throne! It helps with circulation and leg fatigue! My legs used to get really sore and tired using a round throne and I could only play for a few hours before the pain became to much! Since I made the switch to the bicycle throne I've had no pain, stiffness, or exhaustion at all and I can play all day long.

it's so comfortable and I've heard it said I'll never have to buy another throne!

I have a heavy gibraltar throne with the bicycle seat that I've been using for over 10 years. it works fine, hasn't given me any trouble at all. I'd probably buy a roc-n-soc if I were to purchase another.

+1 same here, i have the back rest on my and during those long 4-6 hour band practices it really saves my back

I recently purchased a roc-n-soc lunar adjust and love it . I have used rounds in the past and just like the bicycle style better . I had problems in the past with throne's being unsteady while playing and had one buckle on me and almost gave myself an enema . But the new throne is nice and steady . I will be purchasing a backrest soon also . $150.00 and well worth the money if you're 245lbs don't buy some cheap throne .

I have and use the roc-n-soc nitro throne with a backrest. I have a bad lower back so I have to have the backrest. I have also found that since using a backrest that my posture has improved ten fold.

yes. i dont know how much of a difference but thats what ive heard as well.
its because on a bicycle throne bcuz it has the little cut outs for ur legs. ur legs sit with more of an angle
rather than being on a Round throne ur thigh sits straight out and ur leg sits straight down making a more
of a 90 degree angle..
