Post Carbon Fiber?
So, I finally sat down and designed my dream kit last night. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it done by a custom drum company, but the problem is, the snare is carbon fiber. I've looked around and found no company that offers carbon fiber shells. Is there any company that will build me acarbon fiber snare?

I can. Carbon Fiber shells are very expensive but I can do it.

Message me or email me at pj@medicinemandrumsaz.com with what you want.

Rocket Shells in Sacramento, CA specializes in Farbon Ciber.

TimeKeep's right, they're pretty expensive.

A 6.5 x 14 rocket shell is $190 for the shell alone.

Is there a huge acoustical difference between carbon fiber and fiberglass?

I've never played a drum made out of either, but I've made other stuff from both and used grinders/sanders/saws on them. They're very similar to work with, except carbon fiber is much harder and trashes tools faster.

I've never played a fiber glass drum but I have played Rocket Shell drums and they're loud as hell. Almost zero warmth but the widest tuning range you could ever ask for. Snare drums really crack with rimshots.

I've dorked around on some Fibes kits at Tommy's, as well as some North drums back in the day...they sound really good. Definitely warmer than carbon fiber. I used to own a carbon fiber Tama snare drum. That thing was very dry and cutting. REALLY loud.

glad i saw this---
i just ordered a whole Carbonfibre drum kit by tempus, who deals exclusively in fiberglass, carbon fibre and carbon kevlar.
they sound amazing

pre built snares run around 1k, carbonfibre, but i bought a 6.5x14 carbon shell for $170

the owner paul mason is wonderful too, he runs it out of vancouver and the only person i ever had to talk to was him, and he responded on average within an hour after i messaged him.

go to www.tempusdrums.com and check it out.

I just posted this on your other post incase you missed it. Hope that helps.

"My sad story is that I paid almost $5k for some Tempus drums back in AUGUST. I was promised 4-6 weeks. Then 6-8 weeks. Then oops, another month. Then January.... Now 6 months later, no kit and no word from Tempus since the last broken promise. I asked for my kit or a full refund so I can go buy a Mapex saturn."

"Actually, it isn't about brand. There is also Impact, Monolith and rocket. I urge people *not* to buy from tempus, I despise Paul Mason and the way he has hosed so many people. Great drums, used-car salesman for an owner. "

"Parts of my Tempus kit had to be sent back for repair due to factory defect. I have no tolerance for shoddy drums. "

I bought a Tempus CF snare drum about 5 yrs. ago. Biggest mistake I ever made. The seam looked like it was melted together. there were cracks in the finish. At first, I thought it must have gotten crushed or something like that and I gave Mason the benefit of the doubt to correct the situation. But he would have nothing to do with me after a few irate email exchanges. He wanted to build me a new drum, but I was so p------ off I just wanted my money back. He cut communications after that. I finally cut my losses and sold the drum for what I could get (about half of what I paid). To be fair, I have seen other tempus drums that looked good and that's what I wanted, too...but I got ripped off, instead. BUYER BEWARE!
