first make sure the replacemnt covers are the same size for your sticks (i.e. lt, mt etc.)

unscrew the tips off and remove any griptape (i always use ahead grip) u may have on the sticks
pop your sticks in an oven at 230*F for a minute so th glue becomes pliable
carefuly remove the old covers by sliding them off the sticks
place the new covers in the oven at same temp. so, again the glue becomes pliable
slide them onto the sticks and apply pressure off a hard surface to make sure the new covers snugly fit
screw back on the tips and voila

n.b always have an adult present when engaging an oven, remember that odscene amount of heat = dangerous burns Cool

oh yea and sometimes i found i dont need to put anything near no oven

hope that helps

^^ what he said.

I got a pair when I was 17 or so and broke them in 1/2 after less than a month. I was going to return them but they would only give me another pair. I said screw it and have never even considered them again. $30 right down the drain!

Oh, sorry - you didn't ask for opinions Wink

i have never ever broken a pair
i still have the first pair i bought 3 years ago

ermm just keep applyin heat from a hairdryer until the old cover slips off easily
same goes for when u r putting on the replacemnt

i finally broke mine after 3 years, just bought a new pair. i tried playing with wood sticks and i can't stand the weight or shock unless i'm doing jazzy stuff with 5As. i don't understand this vehement hate some of you have for these sticks. i like them, you don't, who cares?

anyway...

mine sometimes fit on with no heating at all, but i do use the oven usually like duba said. might want to also consider putting some superglue on the threads of the tip, i know mine sometimes unscrew as the sticks age and the tips get stripped from all the force. when you need to replace the covers just wrap the tips in some tissue or something and use a pair of pliers to loosen the superglue.

you've GOT to remember to replace the covers as soon as they start looking pretty ratty. if you can see metal underneath the plastic or pick pieces of the covers off, replace them immediately.

yeah i have had 3 pair of ahead sticks and i have broke 1 pair. i have the joey jordison sigs, i broke the 5as and i have the largest model they make for playing my marching quints. the only time i have ever seen aheads break is when you hit a cymbal or rim and hit the metal directly. remeber the sticks are made out of aluminum which is very soft and if heated and hardened like ahead stick are. it becomes very brittle. so if your cymbal or rim goes all the way through the plastic sleeve bye bye sticks. the idea is to replace the sleeves often. yes it sucks buying sleeves. but even if they only last a month. a set of sleeves are 3 dollars and a set of wooden sticks are 6-8 so it much more economical if you like the feel of the stick.

I've blown $90 on 3 pairs and broke all of them. So I say no thanks. But then again it's my own dumba$$ fault for playing rimshots.

I've had a pair for about a year, they have'y broke, but the tips are a BITCH to get new ones on!. the covers are no problem but the tips.......and Ahead sticks are slightly heavier than wooden sticks, but not by too much.
