If i get a usb mixing desk will all the chanels come up seperately on my computer, or will it all be one big mesh
and do you get seperate shannels if u micing desk into an interface.

If I am understanding what you are asking:

You have to have recording software that supports a multi-in soundcard (like sonar, cubase, nuendo, logic...). Within the recording software is where you select what input records to what track.

does this usb mixing desk have mic inputs? that's your first step right there. post up what you're looking to use and I may be able to give some advice.

cool so this should work. my guitarist is doing music tech at university so i want all the channels to be availiable for tweakery.
has anyone ever used multitrack recording as a way to do vocoders on voices,

I'm trying to find out whether you can actually record all the channels in at the same time or if it only puts out a stereo signal...this is something you need to find out before buying the unit. it may just record in the whole stereo mix.

so I checked it out, and the only thing that box is capable of sending to a computer is the stereo mix output (all the channels at once). you can not record multiple channels independently with that device. you need a multi in/out sound card and a mixer with independent channel ins and outs to do what you're trying to do.

may I recommend you start by examining an m-audio delta 1010. cheap, reliable, 10 ins, 10 outs. also look to see what sound cards e-mu might have available. theirs are also cheap and reliable.
