Post Help with getting A customs, please
i have a low budget, which i have none of right now, aside from like $25 lol ^^ but i have a couple things to sell, i'm going to start working, i'm getting a job soon, hopefully, i already had my interview, and my parents will help a bit Smile

i want to get A customs, but i think i'll need to buy them 1 or 2 at a time and just build up, cuz i can't afford the $709 package for `

16" crash
18" fast crash
14" hats
20" ride

meh. i want that lol

so any advice on buying slowly or possibly saving money?

My 12 year old nephew did chores and saved for alittle over a year to get his A's. Key word "SAVE". Another option is buying used cymbals. Local pawn shops, music stores or swap meets. Good luck. P.O.Y!

Sell all of your cymbals now and just make sure you have a hi hat, ride and crash. Then you can slowly add more crashes/china's etc. You can also save money by gettting smaller cymbals. For example, I have a 13" A Custom hi hat that is in perfect condition, except the lettering is worn off the top hat, which I could sell for about $140. You might be able to get an 18" ride (used) for about the same, and a 15" crash for a little less. Personally, I don't think it matters much between A or A Custom when it comes to the ride -- I like the Ping Ride of either. But your hats and especially the crashes will sound warmer with A Customs. I think it is wise of you to focus on good quality cymbals, which I find are more important than the drums themselves.

My advice for saving money would be to keep good track of all you income and spending in a notebook.

I have the 18 inch fast Crash and LOVE it...but I have heard a lot of talk about these A Customs cracking. If you are a drummer that likes to pound on your cymbals, you may want to consider other options. I would hate for you to spend your hard earned/saved cash and then have a cymbal(s) crack.

I play all A Customs and haven't had one crack yet. I think most cracks come from people using improper technique, metal sticks or just dropping cymbals. Check out the stuff I play:
Bodies (Drowning Pool - "Let the bodies hit the floor..")
The Sickness (Disturbed)
Stupified (Disturbed)
Bad Redligion (God Smack)
Whatever (God Smack)
Break Stuff (Fred Durst's band, whatever the name I forget : p)

I am buying all of my cymbals on ebay right now, and selling them too. The demand is very high, so the prices aren't a lot cheaper than new, but the good news is that you can get a sweet penny for your old cymbals.
