Post Problems with my DDRum bass drum trigger-pls help !
Hello guys !
I have Ddrum triggers, Roland TD 12 module. There are still some problems with the bass drum: whenever I play fast parts, with doublepedals, the trigger does not capture all the beats. When I hit with less power the trigger fails to capture any sound , although the sesitivity is at maximum and the threshhold at minimum.
I wonder if it is from the trigger, from the drumhead or the beater. (the pedal is Tama Iron Cobra Powerglide). Is there a "special" place where I should put the trigger, a special mix etc?
Does a mesh-head work better that a regular head (i have now a Remo Powerstroke)?
Do you think Roland RT-10K trigger is better than DDRUM DDTK bass drum trigger pro?
Tnks !

How tight you have the trigger pressed against the head can make a big difference, so can the way you have your bass drum muffled and tuned
Try experimenting a bit, and make sure that the trigger is contacting the head properly too

I play a Roland RT7K and let me tell you. It's the best of the 3 triggers. Between the Ddrum, the 10K and the 7K, the 7K works the best. The Ddrum breaks easily, and doesn't capture hits very well. The transducer is made badly. The 10K is OK but is made very flimsy also. The 7K is very sturdy, it's lasted me almost 2 years now. The sensitivity is usually not a problem unless I'm playing a venue with too much bass floating around the room. I play up to 244bpm with this thing fine. I'm sure it can pick up beyond 250 with no problem. I play with a completely stuffed kick and a tightly wound Aquarian Superkick II. I'm using a Yamaha DTXII brain with the velocity maxed and the sensitivity at about 75. Coated heads usually work better for Ddrum triggers, you8 should give that a shot.
