Alright. I've had this DW 5000 series double pedal high-hat combo stand for almost a year now, and I still can't get used to it. What's up with the two legged stands? The problem I have is that the hats rattle all the time when I use the double pedal (it's ALL connected...), no matter how high I lock the clutch for the top hat. I have a habit of rocking my foot as I keep the hats closed, and the whole stand sways forwards and backwards. It's ridiculous. I paid $450 US bucks for this contraption, and I'm ready to trade it in. Any thoughts???

Definitely doesn't sound like a good idea from the get-go.

try getting a drop clutch. when you go to double bass you can hit the release with a stick, and when you need intricate hi hat work just step on the pedal and the hats lift back up. it might be a temporary fix, but id suggest giving it a shot

the only brand that i know of that makes the type of hh/dp that i know of is mapex. and it is trash. i cant imagine a high quality company like dw creating a piece of hardware that is so constricting. the drop clutch is a good idea but getting rid of it is even better.

The other odd thing is that the left bass pedal is on the outside of the HH pedal. Here I was trying to change my mental thinking to move my foot to the left after years of moving to the right.

What's the best HH stand, and double pedal you would get if you had $400 US to spend total?

Iron Cobra's, DW 5002's and Pearl Elim's are all around $330 I think.

I love my PDP hi-hat stand, it's two-legged, uber-sturdy, feels great and its only $70.
