Alright, so I bought this dinky little M-Audio USB preamp from bestbuy a longtime ago. I also have a td-6 roland digi set as well as a macbook pro. I JUST bought pro tools and want to do some recording. Now, I don't have MIDI ports on my cheap 100$ crappy preamp, BUT i do have 1 stero input. Now, all I am trying to do is just record some drum tracks into pro tools strictly using sounds from the Roland module but the signal strength is almost mute. Here is what I am doing.
I have a 1/4' cable running from the OUTPUT of the Roland module to the input on the preamp and obviously the preamp is connected to the computer. I plugged my headphones into the monitor port on my preamp and I can hear the drums crystal clear. HOWEVER, when I arm a track to record and hit a pad to see how strong my signal is in pro tools, or anything for that matter (garageband etc) the signal strength is VERY low. So low that I am only getting a tiny bit when I hit the snare. This is with the Roland Module cranked up as high as it goes.
I am definitely planning on buying a nicer preamp, as this one is just mad shitty, BUT, shouldn't I still be able to record using this M-Audio fast track? PLEASE HELP ME!
