I used the same Paiste 2oo2 Cymbals for 26 years.
I sold them because I was afraid they were old, and to pay for a full set of Paiste Traditionals.
I regretted selling them.
For three of those years I also owned a full set of Paiste Signatures.
I sold them and the Traditionals for money when we refied the house.
I regretted selling those too.
I purchased a full set of Zildjian K Customs, to replace the Traditionals first.
I sold those and regretted that too. But it was to pay for...............
A brand new full set of 2oo2 Cymbals, which I wont sell. And have no regrets in buying.

14" SE Hats
16" Crash
18" Crash
24" Ride
18" Thin China.

You wont go wrong with the 2oo2 Paiste Line. Treat them right, you can give them to your children when they are grown.

good cymbals, my guitar player has a 2002 ride I use sometimes.

does anyone else feel that paiste cymbals, especially the 2002's, have a completely different sound than any other brand/line? Like, I can mix and match with zildjian, sabian, ufip, istanbul, bosphorous, etc. and have them sound really harmonious (within reason, obviously z's aren't gonna mix with k's), but paiste 2002's just have a completely different character. so shimmery.

they're not what I usually choose, but they're really cool sounding cymbals.

I must say ,sorry Zildjian, I love the sound of 2002's and Sig's. I played them with my old kit and loved them. I love my Zildjians but would not be opposed to going back to Paiste. P.O.Y!

Regarding Alan's post above - I DO think 2002's sound unique when paired with other Paiste lines. They have consistency, for one thing. For example, an 18 inch 2002 medium will sound just like another 18 inch 2002 medium. The 8%-92% alloy of the 2002 has a surprisingly musical tone to it that I really, really love. With the 14" Sound Edge hi-hats, Paiste have gone on record as producing the LOUDEST hi-hats currently manufactured. Actually, the test was performed by either Modern Drummer or Drum magazine. They paired 2002 SE's with a bunch of other cymbal manufacturers and found out that if any hats will do some serious ear damage, it's the 14" Sound Edge. The beauty of playing Paiste's is that putting together a set using their various models gives you an amazingly dynamic and unusual (and beautiful) range of sounds. I used to love A Zildjians....until I bought my first 18" 2002 medium. That did it!

I'm curious what 2002 players think of Giant Beats. If the 2002's morphed from Giant Beats, how are the 2 different? They use the same 8%-92% alloy and they're both machine-hammered. GB's seem to have a nice dark patina to them. They almost look orange. Does the Rude line (also 8%-92%) sound similar to GB's? I know Rude's sound different than 2002's, but I can't seem to find anyone who is playing Giant Beats. Anyone care to comment?

I love the 2002's, I have pair of old black label hi hats, They have a nice chunk to them but still cut through. I llike the 20 inch red label rides too.
