Post redoing a pacific snare..
yo guys. after looking at all your redone snares and sets, i decided to redo this old pacific snare that i found from when i first started playing. since i didntknow how to tune whatsoever when i started i just cranked the tension rods all the way up haha. the rim is bent but i have new lugs/ tension rods/ rims for it. but another thing is that the shell itself is kind of crooked now. would sanding it down evenly fix this problem or would it just make it worse?

sanding it down is gonna take the polycoat of your bearing edge. and quite possibly mess with your bearing edge in a way that wont be good. talk to timekeeper for more info

idont exactly know what that means haha but umm. the rim of the shell itself is like lower then other parts in some places. im not even looking to make it that decent anyway. im just bored so i figured id try and work on some finishes on it for future projects

sounds like fun man, if u expect it to sound crap when ur being an idiot about making things (like i always do) than u can only be satisfied with the result or pleasantly surprised, enjoy ur little project!

From what you're describing, it sounds like the bearing edge is bad, that can be fixed.

PJ (Timekeep69) fixed the bearing edges on both of my PDP snares. If your in the states, I would suggest him.
