Post Best place to buy cymbals
Looking for the cheapest place to buy good cymbals from. I'm starting out drumming, been playing for a couple weeks, doing mostly rock. Currently have planet Z hi hat and i believe it's an 18' crash ride, i want to get a crash with a higher pitch that sounds good with rock music.

any suggestions on size, brand and place to buy?

go to a store where you can test them out. then pick the one you like most in your price range.

what music stores are in your area?

there's a place called Star Music pretty close. but they want retarded amounts of money for cymbals. I thing the most expensive one in there was $300+ and the cheapest was $160, they were Zildjian and i'm not real familiar with which ones are mid-tier and high end but that seems a bit high to me compared to ones i see online.

Musiciansfriend.com. Got pretty much what you need. Also try pawn shops...alot of hidden treasure in those places. We have a Star music here....coincidence. P.O.Y! And welcome!

also try craigslist if you have it. i'm pretty sure its everywhere. or ebay if you can ask the seller questions and ask for pics. i was talkin to a studio drummer, and he gave me some usefull advice. The only difference between and used cymbal and new cymbal, ones shiny. If you can find something used that doesnt have cracks, keyholing, or dents, go for that. later

Check out some Zildjian A Customs. They made great crash cymbals and (i think) all of it is high pitched! I own a 17" Fast Crash and just love them! Go to the music shop and test them one by one and choose whatever you like the most.
