I always thought Steve was a very cool drummer. I love his cowbell work.

GnR's some of my favourite music to play along to when I just want to rock out hard.

I disagree about the whole "you can replace a guitar player but not a drummer" thing. I am not really all that interested in hearing any post-Slash GnR for example, even though two of my favorite chops-monster guitar players EVER (Buckethead and Ron Thal) were his replacement.

So GnR is no more? I thought they were still recording Chinese Democracy...

'they' are suposedly still recording or mixing the record, but in my eyes, its NOT guns n roses. especially without slash!

Yeah, to me, as soon as Slash was gone it wasn't proper GnR any more. And as now Axl's the only original member left in the band, I wouldn't consider it GnR at all any more.

When a band loses a member it's usually the end for me. Without the original members, and they're own feel and experiences, the music is just never the same.

Unless it's like the third keyboardist. Then I'm alright. Smile

I felt the same way when the fired Adler. Sorum is a much better technical drummer, but GnR lost a lot of the reckless abandon and fun when he joined. His time was too solid!! In rock music, it's all about the excitement and the adrenaline. Sorum's clean playing took some of those elements out of the music - that and Axl going all Elton John!!

Definitely - GnR wasn't about technicality and precision, just a good time! And recklessness, probably the best word for it.
