Post Caveman need help picking electronic drum stuff!
lol alright, I've only been involved with acoustic drums thus far and now am really wanting to get a couple of drum pads to get different electronic sounds included with my set. I was thinking a kick pad for 808 and big deep sounds to the right of my bass drum pedal and also a drum pad on my left side for different snare sounds. My question is what do I need other than the kick pad and snare pad. Modules? Anything else? I'm new to electronics lol

A couple of pads and a module. And some cables of course. I use the Alesis DM5. You are stuck with the sounds provided, but there are plenty. Some modules allow you to create, save and trigger you own sampled sounds, but I just use my laptop.

yes you will need some kind of trigger receiving device. a module has sounds built into it, and will give you midi outs/stereo outs to be amplified or run midi to a computer.

with a computer and a module, you can make your pads recreate just about anything Smile

for a simple live solution a sampler or a drum module hooked to the pads would be a good start. with stereo output to feed to a desk.

as abovr the DM5 is quite cheap I believe. but could quite easily expand you to a computer based solution at any time.

Thanks guys! I probably should've updated this lol I already bought a Roland TD-6V, PDX-8, and the KD-7 is on it's way. Still need to study the manual a little more though!
