They did a cover of Phantom of the Opera and it was actually pretty cool, but other than that...they're WAY TOO cheesy for me.

even though you can see the dw logos clearly about ten seconds into that video, those ten seconds were still almost to painful to endure, that band is simply horrible

If he is, dude you need to lose the '80s bandanna.
Seriously though, from what little research I did this band looks like they're pretty damn big across the pond. It's cheesy, but it rocks, they're all good musicians, the female singer kicks ass, and they seem to put a lot of energy into what they do. I'd totally be down for playing with them.
Oh, and the bassist sounds and looks just like one of the guys from Metalacolypse. Which actually brings up the question of, how in the hell do they sing the way they do when their accents are incredibly thick when they speak in English? Just blows me away when singers can do that.

The intro riff of that song hella reminds me of Faith No More's "Surprise, You're Dead!".
Feel free to be yourself here, this is probably one of the best forums on the internet. Not just drummer forums, but flat out one of the best. There are already a few big names who openly post here. So if you're dude, speak up.
Assuming you are the drummer...I noticed you switched to playing Starclassics, why the change?

See, that's exactly what I'm talking about. The woman can barely speak English. How in the hell do any of them sound so damn American when they sing? It just kills me.

Ah yes Tarja's english is very bad. The keyboardist (tuomas), sent her a letter in oct '05 after the last show we played with her. It was pretty sad.
And the switch was due to sponsors. Tama + DW were both sponsors in the first video, so "we" had to show that DW endorsed "us also.

Because while learning to sing to American music they pick up the accent and condition themselves to sing in an American accent.

So that is you.
You're a hell of a player, man. You rock it out and look like you're always in the zone.
When I was watching clips the other night I noticed that your fans are really opinionated about the singers. Personally, I like Anette and have been listening to Amaranth a lot over the past few days.
Oh yeah, the original response to this topic was because people really do ask silly questions.
edit:
Forgot to say this. You all speak English far better than I speak your language.

Practicing is always a good thing. I just started working on a new hand technique last night. Using the open/close technique for singles instead of doubles. This is something you can probably work on while on the road, practicing on your thigh or something.

Yes I know of closed hand techniques. I've played since I was 11 1/2 .
We don't have our next show until may 5, so for now we are in Helsinki. If you'd like to know, I'm on a laptop right now . If it wasn't 2 A.M. I would more likely than not watch a movie with my daughter. I might practise half an hour every 5 or 6 days when we don't tour.
When we do tour though, we have fridge full of beer + jagermeister .

That's about when I started, too.
Bill Ray does a lot of posting from his laptop while on the road, too. The wonders of modern communication, eh?
Yeah, I've noticed that guys who tour extensively don't seem to practice much. Usually because they just play so much anyway. I remember reading that Dennis Chambers seldom practices, either.

Yes we don't have much time for practiseing. Tuomas has a little keyboard he'll bring a long and he plays some melodies, but thats about it. It's usually drive all day, do a show, get off and sleep while we drive to next show.
Sometimes we get a day off and we can see landmarks and such! One time we got stuck on the side of a road in USA.

Man, hardcore touring is one thing I've never done. Sounds grueling, but fun as hell at the same time.
Where were you in the US when you got stuck? Hopefully it was at least someplace nice.

We were on our way to Minnesota, I believe. Something happened to the engine (transmission, I think), and we were stuck on the side of the road for 2 hours.
We did get to the venue in time though.

That sucks. I blew my engine on the way home from a rehearsal one night and was on the side of the road for about the same amount of time. Was it winter or summer? Both could suck equally.

Sweet little kitty you got there there SG. I like the finish, and the Acro matches in perfectly.

I'm going to post one last time for a while, because we leave for Mexico City tomorrow at 11:30 (Suomi time), an dbecause of that I won't get to use a computer for a while (unless we find a wireless spot on the road!)
So good day! I won't be far away for any of my fans .
