Hey Ploughman, I need your help
So my grandpa used to be a drummer in the 60's and he gave me all his old stuff like stands and drums etc. But more importantly, he gave me what I think is an old rogers dynasonic snare it's the oddest thing it has this weird green and black swirlish sparkle wrap and it is a 6 lug per side design. I switched out heads from my pdp snare and it just sounds awesome though
I don't have a a camera so could you show me what the dynasonic lugs look like? or can you tell me if it even is a dynasonic?

A Dynasonic is a 10 lug drum. You might have a Luxor Model, if it says Rogers on it.

Are these double ended lugs? or ........one tension rod to the lug, six on the batter side, same....... one tension rod to the lug, six on the resonant side?
This is not a dynasonic. If it was a dynasonic, with seperate lugs per side, It could be an 8x14 or 15........ a very rare drum. It would be a wood drum.
Inside there is a paper tag........ that will state, Luxor, Holiday, Powertone, Tower, or possibly Century. It could also say Banner, Classmate, Lexington. Let me know.

double ended lugs. I don't think it's anything special, it doesn't have any markings on it at all. It has one of those internal muffling things on it, if that helps any.

It has the same lugs as the rogers snare nutbox posted. The throwoff it has is a bar that sticks to switch the snares on and off and a circular dial to fine tune the snares.

Well, it could be worse. ........ It could have been a dynasonic. And everything Rogers replaced With those parts.

I never said it was "nothing special"
That drum is loaded with karma. It was your grandads. Even if you dont play it, it will always keep you close to him. In the years to come..... that will mean much to you. No matter what gear you eventually own. No matter how expensive is the gear you own. That snare drum will always be a direct connection for you ... to him. 20 years from now.... or maybe not even that long, you will appreciate having that snare far more than you can even imagine now. No matter how many snares you acquire in your life, keep that one. Play it, and remember every thing about him, every story, his gestures, his eyes. Him.
It is something very special.

I think the best part of this whole thread, is that the drum sounds awesome.
Is it a Dynasonic? Nope.
Does that matter? Only if you intended on selling it. If you sold it, all you would get for it is money. There is nothing on this planet which is more common than money... it's everywhere!
There is only ONE snare drum that was handed down to you from your grand dad. That's better than money, any day of the week.
I hope you get around to posting pictures of it very soon.

what I meant by nothing special is its not a snare that would get me hundreds of dollars if I sold it. and even if it was a dynasonic i wouldn't sell it cause it would have too much sentimental value.
hey ploughman, I don't have a camera, unless there's a way to get pics off a camera phone, the snare will remain unseen. sorry.
