One of my favorite heavy rock drummers. Emphasis on heavy. He always comes up with nontraditional parts that work really well inside the music. I've listened to Ozma and Bullhead by the Melvins more times than I can count.

my old band worshiped the melvins. only after i quit did they actually open for them... those fuckers...

crover's amazing... and ballsy.

the melvins once ended a set at first ave in minneapolis with this brutally slow one chord instrumental. after about 10 minutes, buzz walked off stage. after another five minutes, kevin walked off the stage leaving dale who was playing this painfully slow 4/4 beat: kick / hats / snare. no fills. no nothing. he continued to play this for five minutes. he then cut out the hi-hat, grabbed a mallet and replaced the single notes on the hi hat with gong hits. another minute or so went by. he cut the kick and the snare out leaving him hitting a gong once every four measures. he did this for nearly 10 minutes before walking off the stage leaving an audience of about 1,000 in complete silence behind him.

one time, the melvins played a three-set show here in austin. nothing but the melvins all night long, three sets a little over an hour apiece. completely different feel to each set.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the melvins adding another drummer. it looks cool live (they're both playing exactly the same parts on similar kits, but one's set up right handed and one left handed...looks like a mirror image), but I just don't think dale crover needs any help! still, the new lineup was great when I've seen them live.

i love the drumming on houdini, i also got the chance to see the fantomas melvins big band in nyc, it was really cool to see lombardo and crover each with their own drum set, playing in unison.
