probably because a cymbal normally thins out towards the edges so u just cut out the bit that vibrates the most, hence, the most sound. however what did the bell of the cymbal sound like when it was cut down and did u try stacking?

i didnt spend that much time experimenting to be honest. stacking cymbals is not my thing either, i would rather buy a new cymbal!

yeh, but stacks arent ment for a traditional sound, they are ment to sound like crap, thats the great thing about them, they sound crap but when used right are awesome
