Post Metal Plating
Anybody have any experiance with metal plating drums?

I want to brass plate my lugs and possibly chrome plate the shell. Is that going to effect the drum at all?

first of all, if the shell is wood you won't be able to do this at all. second, it will be more expensive than its worth imo. i say get a chrome wrap for the shell and new hardware if its the look you're going for.

yeah its a metal shell.
about the lugs though, i was looking at price estimates for automotive works. Getting a powdercoat for motercycle lugs was $2 a lug. Yes, i know that powdercoating is differant from metal plating, but i also have some connections and might be able to get them done cheap. Does anyone know if it will affect the drum?

Also, the lugs came in some wierd mesuments. The holes are like 1 1/16", and i can't find any lugs with that measurements. Thats why im looking for metal plating.

Powder coating is your best bet. Any drum you see that has colored lugs and hoops is powder coated.
