You could also try the Starclassic Bubinga... I heard that they cut through well for rock playing! Maple shells are great! Are you sticking with Tama or are you going with other brand too??

GET IT FOO! I own a Tama Starclassic birch and I was playing a Tama Starclassic Maple today. I like my birch better but the maple sounded different and great! I play punk, ska, blues, and hip hop on my set. The thing cuts through real good againts 100 watt amps when it's not even miced.

It looks great. It smells great. It's a fan-fucking-tastic set. I'd recomend it to anyone. Get it. You wont regreat it

I used an SC maple for about 5 years and don't have anything other than superlatives to say about it. You can't go wrong with a set of these babies.

All the Starclassic lines are top quality in both looks and sound. I have a Starclassic bubinga snare and love it.....can't imagine how great the whole kit must sound.
