Guys, I'm going to get a Tama warlord series as soon as possible and I'm confused of choosing either Masai (12 Ply Bubinga), Valkyrie (15Ply Maple) or Spartan (1mm Stainless Steel). I mainly play rock, prog. rock, metal, and sometimes fusion/jazz. Which is better? I somehow like the Masai since the sound is dark and my other snare (Superstar EFX) is more to bright sounding snare. Is it a good choice?? Thanks!

For rock and prog rock I'd probably go with the Valkyrie or Spartan (although I'm not a huge fan of steel snares) but if you like the Masai go with that, because I haven't heard any of them.

Line all three of them up... tune 'em and have at it. Start by eliminating the one that you like the least.

Let the other two duke it out... buy the one you like playing the best.

Don't even consider spending that much money on a snare drum via mail order or online without playing it first!

I've just checked out on another snare and it's Kenny Aronoff Signature snare. Is it good? Which is better, the Masai or Kenny Aronoff?? I think I'll be sticking with the bubingas instead of the maple since I really like dark sounding drums.... Any other suggestion??

Thanks for all of the suggestion guys! I'm going to go to the music shop tomorrow and will order my Masai snare and they said that it'll be here in about 2-3 days! I'm very excited to play on that drum!
