the drumming on siamese dream is some of my "reference" material for just how good mainstream rock drumming can be in some seriously creative and technically proficient hands.

So Alan, looks like you and I are the lone members of the Jimmy Chamberlain fan club! What gives??
I always loved Jimmy' s style and sound with SP, especially those singles stroke rolls! He was a big bag fan, so a lot of his style comes from Buddy, L. Bellson and the like. Another great trademark of his playing were those dotted 8th note grooves that were so popular with the alternative bands of the 90's.

Sadly, the one time I saw SM in the 90's, it was at the end of the tour in 96 after he had been kicked out. I actually didn't like SM as a live band -- the sounded terrible and rushed all of the songs to the point where it seemed like they wanted to hurry up and get to the end. But the first 3 records are perfect.

I'm glad to see that Chamberlain has cleaned up his act and is active agian.

I like his playing alot. My problem is I can only listen to so much of the Pumpkins. They are ome of those bands I have to be in the right mood to listen to. But Chamberlain's playing is great.

I like the first 2 pumpkins albums, gish and Siamese Dream. After that I kinda got disenchanted with them, but I agree the drummer is really great. I like what the guy did on Siamese. Really good, creative stuff.
