 Sizzly splash sound.
My 10" Wuhan splash has been making this wierd sizzly, rattling noise lately, and I took it off the stand and hit it and it still did it, so it's not the stand. What's going on with it?

It'll make that noise before it even shows cracks I think...
I'm no expert, because I've never cracked a cymbals, but I'm pretty sure the rattle is a sign of a death blow, a.k.a. crack.

It's most likely on it's way out. Slap it as hard as you want. Wuhan's are not expensive to replace. P.O.Y!

Thanks guys. I only had to hit about 5 more times til it broke about half way around the bell. My other splash is a 12" Agazarian, so now I want a 10" Agazarian. Not much more expensive than Wuhan, way better sound.

Yeah Sounded like you had a crack on the way!
probably the worst noise a drummer could hear when cymbals are involved!

unless its got rivets, then its kinda normal for a cymbal to make that noise

shit then I think my ride might be on the way out. but its probably the stand, I'm using a crappily built first act stand for my ride and one of the screws refuses to stay on right

Yeah, I've cracked way too many cymbals. They often start making that sizzling sound early on. And I've destroyed three 10" thin splashes. Had fun with one that kept cracking all the way around the bell until it was barely hanging on by a very small portion of the outer part. Got to smack the everlovin' hell out of that sucker! Poor thing finally fell completely off the bell altogether and fell down the stand. Haha! Got a good laugh out of everybody at practice...
