Post 14 Year Old looking for a job.
I've already applied at McDonalds/Borders/Hannafords/WalMart.

Where else can 14 year olds apply?

At 14... work at Mom and Pop's! Clean your room, mow the yard, cook diner and do the dishes!! Learn basic around the home stuff so you don't have to depend on someone else to do it for you. Trust me, it will help in the long run....especially these days. P.O.Y!

Actually, Jason, you have to be 16 to work in a "regular" job. It's Federal Law.

I know I need to be 16 to get a full-time job. I live in NY, and state law allows me to be 14 to get just a part-time job.

Washing cars/mowing lawns would be pretty cool. I just don't know how to get that stuff around. Knocking on random doors is pretty scary for me. Confused

Family restaraunts will usually use a young kid to wash dishes after school. I used to wash dishes for a restaraunt run by Greeks, it was great. Get paid every night and hot waitresses. You can't ask for more. Farms will usually hire you on pretty easy, but you'll probably work more than 40 hours a week. They don't really worry about the law. Good summer job, you'll have an assload of money every week as well.

I was selling door-to-door at 6. Suck it up. Very Happy

Start with your neighbors. Who takes care of their lawns and washes their cars? If you're going to wash cars though, you need to invest in some quality stuff. Dish soap and a regular sponge aren't going to cut it. You'll need a good car wash/shampoo and a micro-fiber wash mit along with wheel cleaner and a mit just for that. Then you'll need some micro-fiber towels to dry the cars off with (I like to use cloth diapers for my wheels and a Water Blade on the body before toweling off), some window towels, and some Black Magic tire shine to top the job off. It sounds like a lot, but if your neighbors have nice cars they probably won't let you near them with less...I know I wouldn't let you near mine with less. Doing a good job usually takes me about an hour including dry time, but I also take my time. Doing it for money, you'll want to work as quickly as you can while still doing a good job. Money to be made man.

There you go.

You know, I always tried to explain that to my dad and he always took it as me saying I was going to lay on the couch for the rest of my life because I didn't want to spend my life doing manual labor.

I live like 2 seconds away from Alto Music lol. But most of the people there are like 20. I doubt 14 year olds would be hired there.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! I'm just gonna have to keep searching around.

Is there a country club close? Caddies make decent money. It's outside durring the day and it's cash. You will learn a lot about life. Trust me I did, and I had more money than the kids who bussed tables and delevered news papers. Did that too.

No doubt. I used to do that plus car washing. Bought myself a GT freestyle bike and my first drum set that way.

soccer refs make a surprisingly high amount of cash per match (in the UK atleast).

I was making between $14 for a 40 minute match and $60 for a 90 minute match

i used to live in warwick which is about 20 minutes from middle town, im pretty sure the youngest person who ever worked there was like 22, theres no way they are gonna hire a 14 year old, even though that would be sweet altos kicks so much ass. Your best bet at 14 is a restaurant that doesnt serve alcohol, you can be a bus boy, that was my first job at 14. if they serve alcohol though you have to be 16.
