part of me always wanted to be a cop because i know i would be a good one but i just dont have the heart to handcuff people and put them away, despite what they have done, as well as a lot of other stuff the police have to do from time to time which is why i have a lot of respect for police and anyone else who puts themselves in harms way.

Stump, don't worry man, I wholeheartedly respect the police, and the work you do. My cousin is in law enforcement in fact.

I don't hate the police, it's just that I've always had an instinctual aversion to people that carry. I can't relax knowing they could just pull it on me.

So basically man, I respect all policemen, and hold nothing against 'em. I've just had bad experiences with backwoods troopers so I'm just a little suscipious of all cops until I get to know them.

So if I can borrow this for a sec, P.O.Y! Wink

I hope that you are refering to some other COP that you have had contact with. If you are refering to me then look elsewhere. If you want to smoke dope then more power to you. I don't necessarily agree with the laws on weed but I enforce them because they are just that...the LAW! And as far as trusting people with guns...take a minute and think about who you want to save your ass when someone has you held up with a gun. Someone with a club or someone with a gun that knows how to use it. Think about it!! If you want to be a victim....go ahead! I will go now and find some "innocent" person to "fuck" with as you put it! Peace on ya! You need it!

Sir Stump is a good dude. He's a true hero and we all look after one another here. If you're gonna go hatin' on the po-po man then make sure it's Roscoe P. Coltrane rather than Stump.

I wasn't aiming anything at Stump, for what I've learned on this board Stump is a cool guy, and like you said a true hero.

It's just until I can see the real person, not just the po-po man, I'm suscipious.

For example, scary dude walks into your house with your friend. At first you're nervous around scary dude, but then it turns out scary dude is actually just a cool dude. You aren't nervous anymore.

Thats what I'm talkin' bout.

I used to not like cops, but that was because I was doing illegal stuff. I've gone from having a gun drawn on me one afternoon to having drinks bought for me the next week, by the same cop. It's a lot nicer of a life to follow the rules and keep your nose clean, rather than be paranoid at all times. If you're going to do drugs, do what a cop once told me; "I don't care what you do in the privacy of your own homes, just don't make it my business." Greatest advice I've ever got. Not paranoid anymore and have been out of jail for the past three years.

Something about knowing your clean just makes you feel totally in control.

Cannabis laws in the UK were slackened and they're now about to be tightened again. Doesn't really bother me as I don't often partake and have never bought.

As for cops with guns... I felt a lot safer walking around the streets of New York, hammered, than I do in London! Seeing officers everywhere with a weapon definitely makes you feel more secure, as an innocent law abiding citizen Smile I'd think twice if I was a mugger. I've never had the police fuck with me either.

Less than an omce is legal in Denver. Unfortunatly the the DA's office is pushing the local police to bust folks under the state Law. Enforcment is actually higher since we the citizens passed our two laws. One that made it legal and another that made it (suposedly) the polices lowest priority. Will of the people my ass.

cops are all people. just like any other group of folks, you're going to have insane variation in how they interact with folks and perform their jobs. I have had mostly great interaction with police. I don't agree with everything they enforce, but they're just doing their job. they certainly don't make the laws, and they potentially put their asses on the line every time they answer a call for help or pull someone over.

I agree that the drug laws in this country are a waste of money. They also villify people that I don't feel are criminals, excepting when people drive really loaded or do something else illegal under the influence. But that's just me.

It used to be a ticket you could mail in, but now you have to show up in state court. The DA is bound by State and Federal law which supersedes municipal code when they are in conflict. Mitch Morrissey is being kind of a butthole about it, but he is an elected representative and if the potheads in Denver could put down the bong for a second they are free to vote for the candidate that suits their will, or even run against him themselves (I'm not a Denver resident). Enforcement was already a low priority, you almost have to try and get caught with weed.
They may not be kicking in anyone's door looking for pot, though the Denver Police do have an problem kicking in the wrong door and shooting unarmed occupants.
That should be a bigger concern then wether you show up at the state or county building for your pot ticket.

It's still illegal... It's just not a criminal offense... big difference!

And Stump... you DO realize I was joking about the weed in the evidence bags, don't you?

I hate the politics of this town but I love this city. Mitch and I are on a first name basis. Just like Bill Ritter. They both have been long time customers of mine. Hell, Mitch goes to my church (I didn't even make christmass this year). I did not vote for either one of them. As far as john Hickenlooper is concerned, we have two things in common, we're both named John and we love baseball. That's it..

Did you see Diana Degete was on the Colbert Report and he asked her if she was a memeber of the Mile High club but she didn't know what he was talking about? She said "maybe if you can get me an application I'll look into it"
