Sounds to me like you have cross threaded the screw or the lug. If so then you may need to drill and tap it, which is a tricky process, or replace the lug and screw. Good luck! P.O.Y!

how much would it cost to replace the lug and screw?

It depends on what kind of drum we are talking about. Brand, model, type? Then you have to look at who is going to do the work and part availability. May be a costly fix. P.O.Y!

Actaully parts for those are quite cheap. The lugs you can get for around $3.00 apiece on line. ? is are you going to do the work yourself? P.O.Y!

SGarret is right.

and yeah you've stripped the nut.

How many times have you been tightening/loosening them, for it to strip in under 2 weeks?

Here are step by step instructions my friend:

1. Take off all other Tension rods
2. Cut the one that is stuck with a dremel, hack saw, grinder, etc
3. Remove top head and rim
4. Remove the troublesome lug via 2 screws on the inside of the drum shell
5. Remove actual LUG NUT(which will have the broken tension rod inside)
6. Get a new LUG NUT and TENSION ROD at guitar center, music shop, hardware store, etc and reassemble.

If done correctly it should only take you about 20 minutes tops Mr. Green

You're lookin at about $10 absolute max for this project as most shops don't sell single tension rods or lug nuts. However you will have extras for future use Razz

the wierd thing is that i havent played around with the screws that much, i just tightened it 1-3 times and this time it got fucked.
and im not like forcing it in or anything, i just rotate it normally and it fucks up.

You need to very carefully cut the tension screw. If you don't have a dremel or something similar, you'll need to use a hacksaw and go VERY SLOWLY! Don't wanna scratch the drum now do ya Shocked

Infact I'd remove the batter head, top hoop and the lug, if you have to go via the snare side to unscrew the lug from the shell/ THEN cut it when the drum is not going to get damaged.
