he's good at what he does.
When you see/hear him play with KoRn he sounds so... out of place and their timing seems faster too.
He is overrated but he does deserve some of the credit he gets.
he didnt ask for it the "maggots" gave it to him

I'm A big fan. I can see how you all are saying he's over rated... Now i'm not trying to change your mind but the people who like him don't just like him for slipknot. he has a few other band s that he plays guitar for. If you really want to judge him do it from musical talent then look at the CD that road runner records put out for their 25th year celebration. He wrote alot of music parts including other instruments. The inside booklet tells you who did what and the DVD lets you see into the 4 team captins lives... Joey (Nathen) Jordison is a great musician, and he has a gift.

I Really recomend this album to any metal fan new and old....

I remember when I first started playing drums and I dug out one of my ol Metallica albums, and I thought Lars' drumming was amazing! ...Then I put on Slipknot's selftitled after not listening to it for years, and I was like "fuuuucccckkkk!!!!" .
I was a massive Slipknot fan when they just came out when I didnt play drums, not really taking much notice of their playing. Then once you take up drumming thats the first thing your ears lock onto when you hear a song!

I'll agree with the statement that "Joey is good at what he does" ....I would like to see him branch out and expand his reputation to another Genre' to show that he is capable of something else...so much of Joey's reputation is driven by the bands success that I think his playing is over rated because so much of the crowd listening to him is propably younger and less experienced as what to listen for .
Undeniably you have to give props for his abilities and progress that he has made for the Metal drumming world...
not a real fan. Not much originality in his playing in my opinion. Over-rated. A lot more interesting drummers out there who have not had near as much attention.
I think he's a great drummer, provided what he works with. I'm not a fan of slipknot. I would like to see him in a real metal band that allows him to get more creative. Slipknot is just kinda epic blobs of distortion and down tuned guitars.

I do enjoy his playing very much. I have all the Slipknot albums and I must say, despite peoples fews on metal drumming, he mixes it up pretty well. Although, he holds back what he can really do. People bash Joey, but I've seen his solo live and just him having fun in a studio and he can do a lot more than what he does in Slipknot's albums.

The drumming is pretty much different in every album, I love 9.0 Live though, the drumming is excellent in that.

I think it's kind of cool that he comes from a Jazz background.
I love his playing on disasterpiece (and I'm not much of a Slipknot fan)!
I suppose he's like Travis Barker in terms of underrated/overrated.

Comparing him to travis barker is apples and oranges....tavis Barker does not compare....sorry....con't roll with that one.
Joey is Ok and delivers great physical ability - let alone playing in that damn mask and jump suit, but there is nothing that he is doing here that Dave Lombardo or Paul Bostaph didn't do 20 years ago...

Cmon man really? I think he blows them out of the water, Dave Lombardo never really impressed me at all. I think especially on the the self titled album, Joey's style of playing was quite complicated and fresh, using the hiphoppy beats in songs, i also thought the structure and arrangement of the drums was impressive too.

He's good at what he does, and while I'm not a fan, he is talented.
As for the question... Eh. He's both. There are people who hate his guts, and there are those who make love to the ground he walks on.
I used to hate him myself, mainly because everyone thought that anything with his name on it was the awesomest thing in the world.

Hey I didn't mean to compare them skill wise or so... Actually I'm not sure what you mean. All I'm saying is that people treasure Travis like he was God, just like they do with Joey! I think both are good drummers, but there certainly are drummers more worthy of recognition!
ps. I think Joey's mask is the only one that actually looks good. Just look at the others, ISCH!

Travis barker is good, joey is too, are they as good as bonham? No, but, they are doing their thing and making a ton of money off it, all of us here would give a leg to have the sucess they do, and for what they play especially, I'm not trying to be a douche, but anyone who doesn't agree is lying,
