Post Lovin' the Slugs. I owe it all to Sarcasm...
My new Slug beaters just arrived and , wow, are they great. Paired them a my newly-broken-in Trick Bigfoots and they're a huge upgrade; noticable difference in power and speed from the Detonator beaters that came with the pedals (which can now be found in the classifieds). And I owe it to sarcasmsetyourhouseonfire for turning me onto them. Thanks, bro. They're ugly, but incredibly effective. If you're looking for improved performance from your pedal/beater, give these a look.

I might have to get a pair, because Sonic Hammers blow.
I caught my shoe laces on one once---I guess it was time for a new bass drum head anyway but it sure cut practice short....

+1 on your thoughts on the sonic hammers. I thought the Pearl quad beaters were 1000x better than them. But these slugs are the real deal. If you're gonna switch, try these - you will not be disappointed

In what ways are they different from standard beaters?

The shaft is contoured so it's thicker at the beater end, kind of like a baseball bat, which helps improve the power and speed. The beater head self-adjusts a little with each hit to make sure it hits the head square. It also turns so you can go from the flat surface to the rounded surface with the felt without having to to loosen it. I also think it sounds better. Check out the link for more info.
