here's a 4 piece. the toms are 60's ludwigs, as is the supraphonic snare. that kick is a 70's luddy marching bass drum that I put modern spurs on and replaced the front hoop.
the sizes of what's pictured are:
9x13
14x14
14x24
5x14
cymbals used that gig were a 20" UFIP custom ride cymbal, a 19" Sabian Vault crash with 3 rivets on the heaviest side, and 15" A Zildjian hi-hats that are from the 60's.

with a different technique. you just raise your elbows a bit. i can see how it'd seem really weird if you're used to playing a cockpit style setup, though.

Mines really a 5 piece but I took one tom off so I can have my ride nice and close. Here's a crappy picture with some cymbals I hammered. It's a lot better looking and looks more comfortable when I have my B8's on it.

nice kit man, but i have no idea how you can use the thrash ride as a main ride, i use it for a crash, but once i get a new 20" a custom crash il place it to the side to just use for accents.
