six7teen LIVE @ ye olde red eyed fly in austin
Well, here's video of our first show ever. I've played in various bands with all these guys in the past, but this is the first time we've all been in a band together.
Just to get a few things straight off the bat:
1) this is our FIRST SHOW EVAR. Don't expect smooth seamless sailing through the night. This is a picture in time, warts and all. I send this one out to bands playing their first gig all over the world...but there's some good moments, and I like the songs.
2) I KNOW THE SOUND QUALITY IS KIND OF F**^#$^#^!$^&. It's a combo of a screwy mix and a wimpy easily distorted hand held video recorder mic.
I know the embed looks kinda small, so here's a direct linky if you wanna see our silly cheesewear costumes in greater detail..

Carry on.

Good stuff Al! Love the energy. Is that a 24" bass drum? P.O.Y!

that is indeed the luddy 14"x24". It's an ex-marching bass drum that I drilled out and put modern spurs on.

I love 24's!! They just have that (thump) that speaks a smooth, balanced signature of a 24" bass. P.O.Y!

How often do you guys play in Austin? I like the sound you guys have. I'd travel a couple hours with a few good friends to make it out.

Well, we just started playing gigs maybe a month ago, and we've played twice. I think we might be playing toward the end of the month, not sure yet. I'll keep ya posted. Where ya from?

I'm in Houston, so it's only about a 2 hour drive. Been looking for a reason to head up to Austin anyways haha. Music scene up there beats the hell out of the music scene here.

there's some good bands here. the problem with houston isn't really so much a lack of talent, but a lack of live music venues of a suitable size for local bands.

Yeah. I know exactly what you mean. There are three or four little coffeshop places, but mainly crappy harcore bands play there. They pander to the 16 and under crowds really. There are a couple nice venues downtown, but nothing for local bands really. If you ever figure out a schedule that you guys are playing, definitely shoot it my way.

don't forget about fitzgerald's
that place has been really unfriendly to play in the past. I'm not sure I'd book a gig there again.
