Now my triggers are misfiring, or not registering...
So this is what I'm thinking of going with:
-Roland RT-10K kick triggers
-Alesis DM5 module
-Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800
I'll eventually have the module & DI box contained in rackmound equipment, so I'm sure whatever cables I need for to connect them won't have to be very long, but I'm not quite sure of the exact cables I need to look for. To connect two triggers to the Alesis module, the module to the DI box, and the DI box to the venue's PA (or whatever), do I need six cables? I know there will be some XLR ends involved, as well as some standard 1/4" ends...but what cables need what? And male/female ends...I'm gonna need a little help with this... ??

The DM5 and RT-10K have 1/4", I think the DI800 has both XLR and 1/4".
You'll need 2 1/4" cables to connect from the triggers to the module, and a 1/4" or 1/4toXLR from the module to direct box. It's a good idea to have a few spare 1/4, XLR and 1/4toXLR cables on hand
Get a power conditioner too

you can get models that regulate voltage so that if the venue's power isn't clean you won't damage your equip.
It also gives you a way to get several outlets available in your rack. You can leave your units plugged in if they're all in the same rack.
Basically, it's like installing a heavy-duty power-strip in your rack, and many of them feature pull-out lights that can illuminate your rack for you.
it's not unlike having a compressor on the front end of an instrument amp; protects you from transient surges- acts like a circuit breaker to protect your expensive gear.

2 Roland kick triggers
Emad batter heads (w/ cut-out areas for sensors)
Alesis DM5 module
Behringer DI box
Axis longboards
Threw it all together tonight, played around with some settings on the pedals, batter head, triggers...basically all the settings I can think of including the sounds and modifications on the module. But I'm still getting double triggering out of my harder hits, and my faster hits (which are definitely weaker) aren't even registering.
Tried all kinds of fixes, like tightening the batter head, playing with different spring tension in pedals, removing dampening rings on the Emad heads (bad idea), altering the velocity curve, decay, gain, etc on the module...I still get the same; my more powerful, slower stomps cause frequent false-triggering, while my fastest double bass almost never even registers. I'm worried that I may have to completely relearn how to play my pedals.
One thing I DO wonder, though... I don't use any internal muffling in my bass drums, just the dampening rings of the Emad heads themselves. Maybe stuffing something them with something would help. I'd just hate to get stuck playing a show and notice you couldn't hear my bass drums OR the triggers! I do have a couple of Evans eq pillows that I could get back out of the basement. Shove 'em tightly against the inside of the batter head?

You have axis pedals. there no reason you should be using any triggers that arent the axis E-triggers. they wont false trigger. they wont double trigger. and you can tune your bass drum exactly how you want it without worrying if its too loose or tight for the trigger

I have PS3 heads but I don't use muffles or pillows either. I built a small muffle from aluminum stock and foam weather stripping that pushes against the trigger on the inside of the head. That solved any false triggering problems I had

From what I understand about the Ekit triggers, they're little more than a spring. I'm reluctant about trying to rely on them. I heard they break easily. I don't think I should really be having any concern with the Roland kick triggers themselves, but who knows...
