Post putting my DW kit up for sale
I'm putting my practically brand new kit up for sale. I had these custom built and received them in October 2006. They have only left the house once to record in a climate controlled studio environment. I'm almost finished with that recording project and will be done in a couple more weeks. Then the kit will be ready to ship. The snare in this picture is not available. I'm selling just the kick and toms.

Specs:
DW Collectors series, 10", 12", 14", 16" (FAST depth) suspension mounted toms. 18x22 kick. Black hardware. All shells are the new VLT type which is the vertical grain orientation that yields a slightly deeper, punchier, emphasis at low pitch frequencies when tuned low. This kit was custom painted by DW in-house paint shop using a silver metallic base laquer coat and a custom spider web design with a drop shadow to give it that 3-D effect.

The kit is in brand new condition. Not a single mark or blemish on them except the mark on the inside bottom of the kick drum hoop where the pedal clamps on... which is normal. They sound absolutely amazing and I hate to part with them. With a newborn baby it's difficult to play them any more due to the noise. Besides, I just don't have the space for the extra kit any more.

I'm asking $3000 plus shipping, but I might be willing to entertain a reasonable offer. You all know this kit would retail for much more especially with the custom paint and upgraded black hardware. This is truly an amazing one-of-a-kind kit.

I'm in the Chicago area so if you are interested in seeing them in person you are welcome to contact me at lindsay13@comcast.net

same here. i LOVE DW, but i can't find any dealers online, and they don't sell them on musiciansfriend, which is almost my only means of buying gear.

i have been to a guitar center twice in my entire life, and you people take it for granted and crack jokes about it, but that place was like my heaven.

2nd music store in my life i've ever been to. i found one in town after a gig one day, but they only had a few selections of drumheads, and some cheap guitars.

You wont see them online because of the contract constraints that exist between DW and their local dealers. Each has a territorial franchise, online sales would violate the contract. Ive seen plenty of DW kits. Some at pretty reasonable prices well below 3K. Two years ago I was.......... buy the Rogers,... la. la. la..... get the Dubs...... back and forth. I bought the Rogers. They cost slightly more than the Dubs.
What hes selling here are very nice looking drums. Just not a finish I would want.
By the way, whats the warranty period on Dubs? Ayotte is 25 years. And is it transferable to the new owner? Ayottes is not. or wasnt last time I checked.

All three GC's and both our independant drum shops in the Denver Area have DW's on the floor. I think I like my XP8's better.

you can honestly make your own for cheaper, using the same supplies that the big guys use.
but if you want one MADE for you, then yes, 3000 isnt much to ask for a high quality custom kit, in fact its not much at all.

if your just some guy walking into guitar center or a local music store or buying out of a catalog your going to pay hat much for a top of the line kit. 600 for that renown is really cheap leading me to believe you bought it from a family member or close friend, got it from someone who REALLY NEEDED to get rid of it, or got it from someone who didnt know what they had. i know you didnt go into a music shop and get a renown for 600. sure you can find deals but out there and its possible to obtain a top of the line kit for less than cheap but for the most part, you aint gonna find a kit like this dw for 600 and you can get smaller kits, less drums but they are still gonna cost upwards of $2000 if you get them new.

you can contact dw directly and order a kit to your custom specs direct from the factory.
