Chad Smith had defiantly had an influence on my playing and my favorite band is probably the red hot chili peppers.

Chad Smith is a great player. He is without a doubt my favorite drummer. His groove is fantastic. Plays for the song. Not too flashy, but busts out the tasty licks just often enough to keep the drummer in you satisfied. He blends funk and rock with such finesse. He's the man.

His drummin works well with flea, adding a solid funk beat which he pulls off very well... the whole bloody band are musical geniuses

im probably the only one to say that despite being such a pocket drummer, Chad Smith bores me...

I half agree - I don't listen to his drumming and go 'woah, that bit was awesome', but he's got such a groove going on underneath everything that it makes his playing exciting in a different way. Not my favourite drummer, but there's few (if any) that can groove the way he can

i agree hes playing in their cd's doesnt make you "woah" but live and drum clinics ect the man has skills if you get a chance buy one of his dvd's and i assure you will be "woahed" i think he just trys to keep it a bit simpler for the song thats all.
