Post Looking into cymbals need advice
Have planetz 13" hi hats and a 18" crash ride.

I play rock/metal and am looking to get some nice cymbals to compliment my play style.

I actually like the sound of the zildjian ZBT 16" Rock crash, would this be a good route to go?

please recommend me 2-3 cymbals off different sizes (one being a 16" crash please) that sound nice while playing rock music

On a budget:
Zildjian ZXT or ZHT
-14" ROCK hi-hats (much better suited for rock than 13 inchers)
-16" ROCK crash
-20" ROCK ride
These cymbals could be bought at Guitar Center pre-packaged together for $300 (ZXT) and about $400 (ZHT). These pre-packs usually come with some kind of free gift (a cymbal bag and a bonus cymbal and stickers). Last time I checked the ZHT's come w/ a bonus 18" crash. The crash is a real score as two crashes work great when playing rock.

Down side to these cymbals is that after a few years you may grow out of them. They are great cymbals but you might save yourself some money in the long run if you buy pro cymbals now. This is all about your personal taste but for rock I'd personally suggest:
Zildjian A-Custom or A-Series
-14" rock or mastersound hi-hats
-16" and/or 18" rock, medium or medium-heavy crash
-20" rock, medium, ping or crash ride
Expect to pay more than $600 for this particular selection but it'd be well worth it. These are the cymbals I've been wanting to buy (I've grown out of my old Zildjian ZBT's). Again, Guitar Center offers A-Zildjian pre-packs and you get some kind of bonus w/ the pack (either a crash or a splash and a cymbal bag). I'd say this would be your best option for great sounding rock cymbals.

ZILDJIAN
A Customs
16-18" Fast or Projection crash
14" Master sound Hi-hats
20-22" Ping ride or try the Zildjian Sweet Ride

SABIAN
AAX
16-"18" Metal crash
14" Stage hats
20-22" Metal Ride

SALUDA
Mist X or Diamond
16-18" Sweet Crash, Rock Crash or Fast crash Thin to Medium Thin
14" Rock Hats or Heavy Hats
20-22" Sweet Ride, Rock Ride, Power Raw Bell Ride

You'll probably save a pretty penny with the Saludas but all companies are good.
