This summer I'm going to replace my Millennium double pedal (it's shite), when I buy my new kit. With the Superstar kit I'm buying I'm going to get a Iron Cobra Jr. with, which I'm going to keep at home to work on endurance and technique (as one would with sticks and a pad). My feet and legs are pretty week, and extremely thin. I need something that won't force me to work like hell (like an Iron Cobra pedal would), but I don't want to put out enough for money for an Axis pedal either. Mostly I'm looking for smooth action and a light foot board. Any good suggestions? I'm likely going to go with the one I find to be the best, as there's no drum shop near me which has any pedals (except for cheap crap pedals) to try out.

um... well im rocking the dw 9000's singles and doubles they are light and pricey
the 9000's are lighter than the 5000s and the iron cobras in my opinion.
the 9000's are cheeper than the axis

Ok, DW 9000's sounds like sth I should be looking into then, I need a pedal with an emphasis to work with my leg, not against it.

Are the 9000s durable? How are the beaters?

Yeah, I could fly on mine (5000 double) when I had it. I wore it out, but it took years.

As for a cheaper single, ludwig speed kings are superfast. All of the old ones squeak, though. The new ones have a nylon bushing that supposedly eliminates the squeaking. A visit to Tommy's bore this out, but I'm not sure if this is a fix that holds up over time, or if you get it home and two weeks later you got a mouse under your foot.

Okay, sounds good. Have you ever compared 5000s to 9000s and perhaps to iron cobras? 5000s seem very affordable, might just get a single 5000.

9000's are lighter/smoother than 5000's. Iron cobras feel a little beefier/heavier.

ive never had an issue just make sure you keep all of the parts nice and lubed up.
so yeah they are durable. as far as beaters go i love the stock ones but then my teacher showed me the hardcore beaters
they just made and i love those

my favorite pedal ive ever played are eliminators. so many options, so lightweight, smooth, and easy to play.

eliminators > 8000's > iron cobras > 5000's > 9000's

...for me, at least
