Post angle of bass drum beater
Just curious if anyone has a preference for the angle of their bass drum beaters and why. What do you feel is the optimal angle? I keep my DW 9002's at a 45 degree angle but was thinking about opening them up a little more. Opinions?

Just enough where It's not too far bag and then it will hit your geet when you play but not too close to the drumhead where you don't get enough rebound! So A happy middle between my foot and the head!

I leave it where DW set it, and then adjust the spring tension to the beater goes about halfway between the head and all the way back, with my foot completely relaxed on the footboard.

I have my DW-7000's set where they were when I bought them. But the left one was higher than the right, so I adjusted the angle on the right side to get them even. This seemed to help smooth things out, but I am interested in finding out specifically what any people prefer, for example, should the beaters be more straight in the air so that they can hit the bass faster when needed for better double bass work? I hope more people respond to this thread...I will do some experimenting and try and post my findings...

I undo the spring, then balance the beater to where it won't fall in either direction, then I leave it there.

IDK if it really makes a difference but I think it helps.

They should be half-way between the head and all the way back, with your foot relaxed on the footboard. That gives you equal distance both in front of and behind the beater. Put the beater back too far and you're going to have to compensate by playing your foot in front of the beat in order to play on time. Put the beater too close and you'll lose power along with having having to play just behind the beat.

i keep both left and right beater at a 45-60 degree angle.
just enough to create a big motion for loud volume playing.

I have mine set similar to SGarrett. I like them to float about half way when my foot is at rest.

I just remove the beater and kick my bass drum now.

No, really, it works, honest. I'm not helping this thread am I?
I actually keep my beaters a little closer to the head.
