lol... thats one horny baby! so ur going to have chrome hoops, brass lugs & lug holders (whatever the proper name is) or just the lugs and the holders are going to be chrome? cause personally i would have the lug holders chrome so only the lugs are brass, but as u said, not my kit. And u better not be going soft on me steve (thats not a reference to our last posts about eroticism) what happened to wooden hoops!? u going for them on the snare if not... why not!?

also on what the last guy said... if i "happen" to go on holidays to America and we mysteriously are "looking" at this kit at the same time i shotgun the bass drum and floor tom cause at the moment my bass drum only has the capacity to hold 1 skin!

Ha ha - you guys are funny! Ill have to introduce you to my friends Smith & Wesson Wink

Just the lugs are in brushed brass. Hoops, suspension system, spurs, everything else is on chrome. I did not order a snare at this time with the kit. I bought a Dunnett snare at the same time I ordered the kit. I will more than likely get a non-matching snare after I put some more gig money into the fun fund Laughing I am in between bands currently, so its going to be a little while. I think these new toys will hold me over. I have 5 snares now as it is and finally with the purchase of the Dunnett, I can cover pretty much any playing situation. I want to replace two of my signature crashes next.

Wood hoops. Ive only played one set with wood hoops before. It looks nice and sounds nice, but I couldnt justify the extra expense of the hoops. It would have added somewhere around another $1000 to the kit. Wood hoops sit a bit higher than triple flange hoops and that was another consideration.

I posted these pics in another thread, but in case you havent seen them, here are all my snares but the Pearl MLX:

Enjoy! Drum P O R N = yummmmmmmm Laughing

i've never seen a kit with only brass lugs, come to think of it i've never seen a drum with any brass on it in real life, but im imagining it and it is gonna be awesome! i can understand why u arfent getting wood hoops now, and i kinda ment on the snare but it didnt click with me that u werent getting a snare with it i was too busy absorbed in the inlay. What kind of cymbls are u getting to REPLACE signatures!? either u guys have too much crap or i dont have enough... probably the second one... i enjoy ur posts steve, u know what ur tlaking about but arent an arsehole about it, keep it real...

Post Final update pix.....
I just received the latest update pics from Odery. The next thing I get from them will be a set of wonderfully stuffed boxes full of drums. Should be shipping next week.

Try to imagine these with brushed brass lugs, chrome rims and suspension system. Also notice the fade on the kick is from the ground up. You may also notice I had the 20x20 kick cut back to a 20x17.

Its going to be cutting it close for DRT, but Ill do my best to have them with me. I know I cant barely stand waiting any longer. Enjoy!

So whats the actual sound characteristics of the Araucaria rainforest tree timber? And is 4 ply thin or moderate for a kit?

Yo...my man from down under! Hope you're doin well friend.

Let's see...good questions! The 4 ply is a thin to moderate thickness; approx. 6mm. The auracaria wood is a dense Brazillian pine. Slightly softer than maple. Everyone who has played or reviewed them descpribes their sound as deep and resonant, especially for their size. I have only heard sound samples and talked to few guys here in the states that have experienced them first hand. Wil Calhoun (living colour) is the only name player in the states who plays them I know of. The guys I asked for input have seen them at the trade shows, played them, toured the actual factory in Brazil or know the Oderys personally. The guy who made my snare highly recommended them and that was the final decision maker for me. He makes incredible instruments and knows Mauricio Odery. So its a bit of a risk for me but I feel very good about them. They hold their value and are a unique set with the woods and all custom hardware etc.

I've also been in direct consultation from start to finish with the main guy at Odery and that has been amazing and reassuring. They have bent over backwards to make sure I'm satisfied. They tried 3 different times on the fade colour to get it right, cut back the kick and modified their suspension mounts to fit my DW arms for no extra charge. Its been a pleasure working with them.

That's about it...probably more than you wanted to know haha! I'm happy to answer any questions as best I can.

Take care!

~S

PS...thanks for the kind words everyone.
