I play a mixture of rock, jazz, and a bit of metal. Anyone have any recommendations on which snare head that fits these genre of music?
thanks

For the Jazz, go for the Evans J1 Etched. I doubt you are going to get a head to do everything you want with those three genres of music. The old single ply Remo Coated Ambassador is probably your best bet to cover all three on one drum.

Jazz to Metal, thats tough. Good luck. I think a couple different snare drums would be an easier approach.
Unfortunately, it can be an expensive one also.

thanks for your replies guys. hey tero, I've always wanted to know the difference between the genera hd dry head and the genera dry head. Also, which one do you think is better for rock?

get either a remo ambassador or evans g1 or power dot. They will have an immense tunning range.

^^^ I have used them and they do sound great but on durability they don't seem to last extremely long. Evan's film feels softer to me, which I like, but they seem to give out easier when they are single ply and even single ply reinforced.
