Post Iron Cobra Power Glide surgery
So I was doing some routine maintenance on my Cobra pedals, just readjusting the tension and setting the position of the mallets. I was tightening the mallet holder on the master pedal with a hex key when *SNAP!* the holder broke in two.

I'm sure I can contact any instrument retailer and have the holder replaced, and I plan on simply taking the holder for the slave pedal and using it as a single kick in the meantime, but my problem is figuring out just how the hell I'm supposed to get the damn thing off. When I say holder, I mean the part that you tighten the stem of the mallet into on the horizontal bar of the master pedal (perhaps there's a name for it I am unaware of?). Looking at what holds the bar in place, obviously I can't simply unscrew the sides and pop it out.

I never thought this would be something I'd have a problem with. Rusted chain, faulty tension springs, worn out pedal, all those problems I've come across in the past and fixed just fine. But can someone out there please tell me how I'm supposed to take the horizontal bar out so I can put the slave mallet holder in place of the master?

This happened to me on a brand new pedal. Maybe they just have duff pieces sometimes. I can't remember what the warranty is, but if it's still on then this'll be covered. And you might get a new pedal! Hehe

Although it sounds like this one is old, so it might not be covered anymore Sad

Oh yeah, this one is definitely old lol...I've had it about 4 years now. It's about high time I go get a new one, I'd love to get a Rolling Glide this time instead of the Power Glide...but $250-$350 bucks is hard to come by for me these days...

I'm extremely fortunate that my band practices in a drum rental shop where I have at my finger tips any conceivable piece I could ever use, so I don't really *need* to rush this, but I'm the type that hates playing on hardware other than my own. Picky I am. Very Happy

That's called the beater hub by the way.

When I lost a screw for an IC that was out of warranty, I had to hunt it down on MF's, and eventually found a Gibraltar one that worked.

If you can't find a replacement, you might have to buy a brand new pedal.

Jesus, it's been 11 years since I first picked up sticks and I'm still learning new terms Smile

Thanks for the info, that may have to be my best option if I can't figure out how to take the beater hub off the pedal.

Yeah, I didn't bother to think what it was called until one day I had to find a screw to fit into one.

After trawling through Tama replacement part manuals, you pick up a few terms. Smile
