 Your input please
I´ve joined a band that plays hard rock/heavy metal, so now I've got a great opportunity to finally replace the tom heads having only used the kit for practice.
However I'm not too familiar with head selection. I play a Mapex kit, birch shells with flanged hoops, and I'm looking for a fat, punchy sound. Right now I'm trying to decide between Evans G2, Remo Emperor, and Remo Pinstripe. Is anyone of these choices more appropriate? I'd appreciate any helpful input.

I would say Remo Emperors. However, I would try Aquarian performance II's. I love those heads, and I play a mapex pro m. I think that would be a good fit.

I have an M Birch and it sounded awesome with EC2's. Also the smooth white Emperors were pretty good, nice and musical. Just have a mix n match over time, learn your kit and what heads go best with it

Emperors are going to have a little more ring than he wants, I think. I'd look more towards Aquarian Response 2, Evans EC2, Remo PS3, or Pinstripes. In that order.

I missed the ft punchy bit haha
I've got Pinstripes on mine at the moment, tuned right they sound super punchy and great for heavier stuff.

I play EC2 Clears or Aquarian Response 2. No particular order either, I get in the mood with both

I use Emporers on my Maple kit... But like SGarrett said I think you would have too much ring... I use Pinstripes on my Yammies and they sound great... That would probably be my choice...

Thanks for all the advice.
I'll probably opt for EC2 or Pinstripe, since I've located a dealer offering 50%discount on those brands.
