 I love Sabian
Around Christmas time I decided to sell all my B8 Pros that were sittin around my basement and take that money and buy the cymbals I've been craving for the last 12 years of my life. I got an 14" AA Flat Hats 18" AAX Stage Crash and 20" Stage Ride. Then my Xs20s took the place in my basement now vacated by the sold B8Pros. Well fast forward 6 months and I've decided I'm going to stop bashing away on my nice cymbals in my garage and bash on my Xs20s till I get a gig and then I'll bust my nice gear out at the shows. Those Xs20 aren't on the same level at all as my nice stuff, but man they're still really good and I love my Xs20s. If you're wondering what I got there, it's the 14'' Medium Hat 18" Medium Thin Crash and 20" Medium Ride. It's good stuff.
I love Sabian, I won't go saying that they're so much better than Zildjian, Paiste, or Meinl, because they're all really great, but I just really enjoy playing Sabian and looking down at my cymbals and seeing that logo. It's beautiful. Phil Collins and Vinnie Paul sold me on them. I know I'm a sheep.
That's my story
Peace all

The Top Hat of the flat and regular hats are the same. But my bottom hat has no bell and has three air vent holes in them. So to me they sound a lot alike the difference to me is when playing it with the foot it seems to be a bit louder and more crisp without the air getting trapped in side. That said, when you crash the two hats together with your foot I think the flat hats lose some sustain because the bottom hat sits flat on the felt. With a bell on the bottom hat like the regular hats, it would ring more but the flat hat gets muted quicker.
Both are excellent Sock Cymbals and I love the term Sock Cymbal for Hi Hats it's so old school.

That'd be cool. I'd probably question changing from Sabian to say Stagg, not that it matters what I think. But I hear Saluda is good. I'd like to get some Saluda cymbals some day. Custom gear is great.

I use SABIAN cymbals as well.
My most recent purchase cymbal-wise was a 20" AAX dry ride. I love it!
