yeah, I mean, understand: my opinions are just that. one man's trash is another man's treasure. I just have a thing against big stiff clanky cymbals. There's no give to a Z ride at all. It's like hitting a metal table top with your stick.

i own a 20" zcustom projection crash, and it's okay i guess. i thought i liked it until i got a 22" byzance from meinl to replace it, the meinl is much MUCH more musical, and has a variety of sounds, whereas the zcustom is okay but only if you JUST want a REALLY loud crash.

It is a big bad ass loud cymbal...originally designed back in the day for the old school metal players where ride patterns were really prominent . Ex....Slayer, Exodus, Overkill, Forbidden.
I have one just for that reason...but I love that bad ass bell...it'll clear a room and doesn't need a Mic, that's for sure.

I tried the 18" rock crash a month ago and I hated it. Way too clangy!

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week and don't forget to tip the waitstaff.
One thing to remember about a ride like this one is dynamics. You don't have to side stick and bash every note. It might not be the most subtle cymbal, but it does have different voices if you look for them. Halfway between the bell and the edge is actually a pretty sweet spot.

OK... so.... ummmm....
Sigh
now that I've regained my composure, I guess my only real comments are as follows...
The megabell ride is THE BEST SOUNDING THING ON THAT VIDEO! And IT sucks in a clangy, firebell kind of way.
But I have played one of the Mega Bells, and while it lacks finesse(cough-understatement-cough), and I probaly wouldn't use it in th studio for fear of never being called-back again... it DOES serve it's purpose. If you want to play yourself some early Van Halen, you'll need to make your peace with that big-ol-bell... because it gets the job done!
last but not least... and I HATE to poke fun of a beginners playing... but WHY do these kids play four clicks on the sticks before making a video, if there is NO BAND? What are the clicks for? It's a kind of a poser thing to do...
My real point, if I have one... there's no such thing as a bad cymbal. Every one of 'em makes a sound that COULD be used in SOME form of music. Some are better suited for certain applications, but in general, they ALL can be useful SOMEplace. No matter WHO made it, or what series it may happen to be. Granted... some are better than others in terms of "musicality".
Just my 2 cents, as always.

Good point....Like anything else there is always the right tool for the job....the mega bell has it's purpose...if it doesn't suit the style your playing buy a different ride that will....hell there's only 8 gazillion different cymbals out there to pick from.
