Just curious how other drummers/musicians handle family life and being a career drummer. My wife understands as she is a singer. We have 3 kids but things can be difficult with late nights and also tours and time away from home. Sometimes creates strain in the household. Give me your thoughts....DT41

Our guitarist just quit due to those kinds of stresses. New baby (first one) wife, job, etc. But we already have people knocking on our door, including a guy we've known and been most impressed with for years.

It's tough. I'd say it's almost like being in the military. The only difference is that your life isn't in as much danger.

There's a lot of time apart and someone has to take care of children alone, which is NOT an easy task.

Most importantly there has to be love, respect and TRUST between the two in order for it to work

It's hard. However, I spend as much time w/ my kid as I can and also we speak every day at least once. And I'm a DAMN GOOD dad!!! There's no question that my kid loves me, and I love my kid. However my ex-wife.....that's a different story.

Yeah, that's gotta be tough, bro. Especially if the ex is the type to play games with the kid's head and try to make you out to be a bad guy when you're not around to hear her. I don't have kids, and plan on putting that off until I make my first million (meaning I'll probably never have kids!) but I have seen that kind of shit firsthand with close friends of mine who got divorced.
