anybody play Premier drums? im from england and i play Premier mainly cos there made just up the road in leicester, just wondering if any other people on here played Premier and if so where do you come from?

I don't have Premiers myself but I often use a set of Artist Maples. They're great drums but I don't like their ISO tom mounts.

PS - Premier makes some great hardware! I use 6000 boom stand (which carries 12'' tom and three cymbals) and 6000 snare stand. Both are quality stands

awesome, i play artist maples but i quite like the ISO mounting system i think the look of it is very retro as far as mounting systems go, but each to there own i suppose

And i very strognly agree with you as regards to the hardware, all my hardware is 6000 series apart from my double pedal which is an iron cobra but i do have a 6000 double pedal but the iron cobra is just awesome, but all the 6000 series hardware is just outstanding, all the updates they have done on them is outstanding

I use the Gen-X series, there on my myspace. Got em off Ebay for a awesome price but I've been using Premier drums since 2002. I really think there the best quality sounding drums out there. Its weird because most people dont play em here in the states. I'm from Ohio but Scott Phillips (Alter Bridge/Creed) is the guy I have to thank for turning me to em. Heres the specs:

I've got some vintage Premiers. I'm told they're international sized pre-1973 beech wood 4-piece. I'm in the middle of restoring and upgrading them. Too many details to list, but I'll keep everyone posted.

Bigd11, if you ever get a chance would you mind asking Premier exactly what diameter, depth and anything else about them that would be good to know?
I've asked tons of experts and emailed Premier and I haven't gotten any answers. I tried measuring them but they aren't metric or American sized.

I have a 9 piece set of Premier APK. They've held the test of time over the last 14 years. I had to replace my original snare because it started to sound like shit but other than that, the kicks & toms still sound awesome. They even held up from the band's move from Boston to LA.

you guys are pretty much not smart and can't help it, or from england. especially the guy who can't measure his drum dimensions. please explain to me how they are not metric or american. and then explain what underground drumhead company makes drumheads for them that aren't in inch" increments.

I've been playing a premier kit for the past 4 year's my first kit was a CB kit hahaha. But yea i think the premier kit's are class im not really sure what series my kit is so if anyone can gimme a hand that'll be good cheer's.

I'm lucky enough to carry an endorsement with Premier and have recently had a hand made all maple kit delivered for the tour I'm on currently. The shells are amazing and completley kick the ass off the Yamaha gear I've been playing for years. It's beatifully constructed, sounds amazing and looks gorgeous... what more could a drummer ask for?

I would agree that the 6000 series cymbal and snare stands are great, although the kick and hi-hat pedals Premier produce do need some work. From what I was told at the factory they should be addressing that problem next year.

Sounds like they are 'pre-international' which would make them pre-1967. Premier until this time, made their drums to their own 'non international' diameters - 12" = 11 7/8ths, 16" = 16 1/4" and 20" = 19 3/4". Remo still make heads that fit in coated ambassador and clear pinstripe, the labels are marled 'Premier' to distinguish them from international size heads.

Hi!! i'm from QuÃ?bec,Canada and i play Premier Vitria series.at first i was looking for pearl session or master but when i've tried the Premier kit...sale was done!!!I did not use the Premier hardware cause i prefer Pearl hardware and DW or Tama pedal. I think Premier made great drum but cheap hardware.

I replaced my drums(not hardwear) 6 years ago and got a set of Premier Artist Birch shells and mounts and i love them. There great sounding drums. I am not keen on the mounts tho, never as sturdy as Pearl mounts. Thats why i use Pearl hardwear for the rest of my kit.

mikeellis - Thanks for the info man. I wasn't sure what was going on with those sizes, but they're the same ones you said. Fortunately the bass is a full 22" (it's got a sticker inside that says it too). I didn't know about Premier making up their own sizes for the heck of it. I think just about every car company has done that at some point in time as well, so it all makes sense to me now. I've gotten heads for them already. A local shop called up Remo and told them they're funny sized and Remo knew what to send.

I have a set of Premiers XPK in Saphire finnish and have to say this is the best sounding kit for the money. They are 15 years old and have had nothing but good compliments on the sounds and look of them..

I've never personally played a Premier kit but if all of 'em sound as good as Rod Morganstein's kit then they have my stamp of approval

Their hardware was always pretty bad in the past but now they are making great hardware. I am very interested in trying their England made top of the line maple drums. The interview with Steve White in a MD from a few years ago where he spoke of being involved with R&D has really sparked my interest. I've never owned any English drum gear and am interested in trying it out.

I love my Premier Kit, but I have no clue what kind it is. My parents bought it used a LONG time ago. We have absolutely no clue what series, model, and all that jazz my kit is. They sound great though.

I've played Premier since I started playing drums basically back in 1987. I had,& still have in storage,a Premier Projector kit in Canary Yellow .My main kit nowadays is a Genista kit (Terraverdi Green) with Rims mounts.Bought it in 1995-it's the best sounding kit I've heard by miles.The 14"-5 1/2" snare is unreal! I've also got a Zildjian/Noble & Cooley Anniversary snare & a new Ahead snare as well. All sound amazing but the Premier just excels that little bit more believe it or not. The amount of gigs I've played where the soundguy praises the tone,liveness & punch of the kit is too many to mention. I've also recently been in the studio with top producer Andy Sneap & even he was singing its praises! In fact he asked if he could sample it & put it up on his website to download. I used to have Premier hardware years ago but changed it all to Pearl/DW hardware with DW9000 pedals & alternatively,the new TRICK Pro V-1 double pedals. Other than that-it's Premier all the way!

My first kit was a premier from the 60's. It got ripped off and the only thing that survived is my 12" (11 7/8") tom. It was my dads' kit that he gave to me. GREAT sounding kit.

I've been pondering buying a Premier kit for a long time now. I was thinking the Premier series shell pack with the undrilled 18" bass drum, the thing is I haven't seen any online stores that stock them so i could check the price to see how long I'd have to save for one.
There's no real rush for one though, as my PDP kit sounds great, but I one day I will have my Premier kit.
It's nice to know there are so many satisfied Premier customers.

Well I don't own one but I have played a Cabria set, I don't recall what series it was and I liked it.....It was in the range of my Catalina Gretsch......I would recommend this set for anybody who like rock.......

But then again I favor Sonor over all other sets and I ended up purchasing my Gretsch just because nobody in New Mexico sells higher end Sonor's.........

But over all Premier sounded good to me..............

i play on a premier cabria, its no where near the best, but not the worst kit i have ever played on. all the hardware that came with the kit ( 2 boom stands, tom attachments etc...) have all stipped. all the nuts and bolts on the stands and hard ware had stripped oonly after owning it for a year, i have had this kit 3 years now. ithink i'll stick with Pearl or taye next time.

I've got the 11 7/8" rack tom, 16 1/4 floor tom and a full 22" bass which is roughly 14" deep. It's birch with beech reinforcements and I think they made them from 1960-1967...at least with my badges.

I play an early 90's XPK in Sapphire. They have the black finish on the inside of the shells. I bought them second hand eight years ago and love them. I need to find an eight inch tom though. Anyone know where I can get one in the same finish? I'd like to buy a premier series maple kit someday. Love the Premiers!

I finally got rid of my old Pearl Export (Pearl is expensive and sucks, btw), and bought a Premier Birch Series...
Well these are the most amazing drums I've ever played !

The 20" (only) bass drum has a deep, loud, powerful (I miss adjectives, forgive my poor english) sound, the snare is incredibly easy to tune and accurate, and well, the toms take a great advantage of the birch they're made of.

The finish is really beautiful too (gun metal sparkle), I post a pic to show you

I've got a gen-x that i got off ebay well cheap, it's pretty similar to the one above. The lugs on it are pretty weird, though, I haven't seen them on many other premier kits (I prefer them to their normal ones though!).

I love Premier drums played them all my days drumming, had a APK for years toured all over Europe with it, got an upgrade to a Premier Series (Birch) in Walnut finish, this kit rules, recently recorded with it and the producer loved it, the tone, the warmth everything about it and a bass drum that kicks like a mule.
They did have a ropey period back in day, but now i think they make the best kits on the market.

The hardware has done me well, (cymbal stands only), use a Iron Cobra pedal, and i've got a Pearl Brass Free floater (6 1/2 x 14)

(before getting the Series Kit i tried loads of other top of the range kits, DW, Pearl, Yamaha, the Premier won hands down)

I play "Pearl" drum's but I gave lesson's at a local music store that
sold "Premeir" drums and I was really impressed with the drum's.

I'd like to play some premiers but I can't find them anywhere around here! The only major drummer I think I am aware of who uses Premier is Nicko McBrain(Iron Maiden). So idk, do they not really sell them in the US too much?

i gotta vintage kit as well. custom maple and it sounds amazing. whne i use it live, i get an amazing bass drum sound when miked.

My first really nice drumset was a premier. It's a 1999 Premier XPK. It's emerald green in color w/ chrome accents. It's a very beautiful sounding kit. I enjoyed playing it for 7 years until I got my Pearl. Now having two drum sets I figuered I would put them both together. Crazy sounding right? Not really, I was suprised that the pearl and premier kits sound very nice together. The pearl is a little deeper in tone but the premier has better sound without dampening. Anyways, the Premier set's are very nice, sound great, and i love the feel of them. Plus my Premier kit cost me 1,200. That was also back in 1999 when I got it.
