 I just don't know!
so here's my deal
I bought a nice new pearl set last year an upgrade from my groove set (hey, ya gotta start somewhere haha)
Now I'm trying to upgrade my cymbals. I'm just clueles as to what to get. I'm a hell of a heavy hitter. I've broken a few crashes (low end cymbals) and a ride.
I play alternative and I guess "hardcore" things with my band. We've gonna start playing local shows next month and I'm trying to get my shit together before then. Any suggestions?
I'm thinking towars Sabian AA's or AAX's.

Go to the local drum shop and try different brands. I recommend going ahead and spending the money to get professional grade brass. I am a Zildjian guy and hit hard. I play Z's and A's. Stay away from sheet cymbals and get cast. Good luck!

I play AA's and AAX's for both metal and hardcore/post-hardcore. Easily tough enough, and I always get crap for playing too loud (THE PA IS JUST TOO QUIET :  ).
Stump, just in case you didn't know, Sabian AA's and AAX's are both cast cymbals. I wouldn't recommend sheets either.

Best bang for the buck (in my opinion) are Saluda Cymbals. I use the Mist-X and Diamond lines right now and have zero complaints. If you want to go with one of the big 3, the Sabian AA's / AAX's and the Zildjian A's /Z's are good choices (as mentioned), or you might try and play some of the Paiste RUDE's -plenty loud and built for heavier hitters.

Yeah! I'm familiar with the Sabian cast cymbals as well as the Paiste line. Never played Sabian though. Peace on ya!

i have no complaints of my aax crashes or hh ride...either line will work. depsite being hand hammered, the hh line can work wonders in any line of music. i also play paiste 2002 hihats and theyre bright and sensitive with a killer sound, definite chick too. from what ive seen, zildjians crack easier than sabians. aa metal-x cymbals are versatile but still take a beating...check those out as well. z customs have no dynamics so i would advise against them. meinls byzance line also sounds great and if youre a little short on cash then saluda has stock cymbals that will line up with all the high end stuff out there. go to all the cymbal rooms you can find and hit everything there is to offer to find what you like best...dont search for the band, search for yourself.

AA Metal-X line is made for heavy hitters. they sound quite nice, too.

You're all wrong. lol
I'm just like you man, I used to play Zildjian and they'd ALWAYS crack.
Meinl Byzance all the way. They're impossible to break. Awesome cast cymbals plus they sound noooooice.
