 Paiste 502's
i've had the cymbal package of these for about 2-3 years now, and i've never had a problem with the way they sound, and no one else has ever had a problem with them either, but are they considered "crap" compared to others?, i want to upgrade my all of my cymbals but i don't have to the money, so i want to know if i should feel ashamed to be playing behind these cymbals

They are considered lowend but they are ten times better than zbts/zxts/zhts. Paiste has there shit together when it comes to low end cymbals. But of Course if you can afford high end paiste then get em you wont be sorry!

i have an alpha crash, but honestly compared to my 502 crash i don't think it sounds as good, and inless you just hit it really hard

Look in to thin sizes. They sound better at lower volumes and can still be loud AND musical. Dont be fooled by Rock sizes they sound way too ringy and I find they actually crack easier because they can bend as much as thins. That what i find

I own them they are the best.
I own a 502 18" crash and a 502 20" ride and it still good after all these years. I did own a 502 16" crash but it cracked because I was hitting it wrong. But now I know better.

Was the Paiste 502 series re-branded as the PST5 that they are currently selling? If so, are the cymbals any different or just the name?

No not at all! These are the best beginning cymbals to have and I still use my 502 18" crash and 502 20" ride cymbal! I did have the 16" crsh but it cracked and learned my lesson! It was a really good buy.

michiganice91 wrote:The reason you haven't noticed anything bad about the sound of these cymbals is probably because you haven't heard any of the top of the line stuff (correct me If I'm wrong). But anyways..NO, your not playing complete crap (but just to let you know..everyone plays crap when they 1st start..at least I know I did). Your actually lucky because your playing what I (and most others) consider to be probably the best of all the "budget" line cymbals..which are basically just for people who haven't saved up enough, or aren't ready to switch to professional quality cymbals. Dont be ashamed of them..be happy with whatcha got!
+1
