Got graduation money and birthday money coming I need help!!
So I've got high school graduation happening on Sunday the 10th of June, and my birthday is on July 2nd. So, this means a fair amount of cash coming in.... I want to know what though, I should get... here are some facts about my drumset:
Planet Z Zildjian CRACKED AND BENT Hi hats
18" Planet Z Zildjian Crash Ride
Sabian B8 20" Ride that has OVERTONES AND RINGING!!!
12" and 18" World Percussion (just like Wuhan) Chinas.
So.... now the question is, what should I get a new thing to replace or like, just something new altogether like a big ol' 20" Crash? Tell me your thoughts!!!
btw, those things above just ment those are the parts of my set that desperately need to be replaced!!!

Replace your hats 1st. Also, check the used rack of cymbals- you can score some great deals there.

It seems no one likes my topic!
Man, why don't more people like Paiste?! They are amazing!!! But thanks for the advice!!! You chose the RUDE over the Sig Reflectors... why?

I didn't choose the RUDE over the Sigs. I didn't do the vote (at least I don't think I did)
But were I given the choice between the two I'd take the Sigs- RUDEs tend to be very one-dimensional.

Oh they do? Yah I'd just rather have the Sig Ref's because they are higher quality etc etc.

i'd say definetaly get new hats. and i also would stay away from the "rude" series of cymbals. it wasnt on the poll but i love my sabian xcelerator hats. very versitle. nice chick sound, good open sound. nice and bright and crisp.
then if you have money left over i'd get that ride replaced. zildjian A medium ride is my pick. good stick defiinition, nice bell, can also be crashed well.
then go for new crashes. as far as size goes, its really about how hard you hit. with bigger crashes you have to hit them pretty hard to get the full sound. where smaller crashes (although just as loud, and the common misconception- size isnt what effects the pitch.) take less force to get a good sound out of them. you cant go wrong with 17 or 18 inch crashes. you dont have to beat them to get a good sound and unless you get really thin cymbals, they hold up really well.
chinas are basically meant to be trasy and crappy so you shouldnt have much worries with your chinas.

I agree with this. I like chinas after they break- they really start to sound cool then!!

I agree with getting new hats first. I have played Zildjian for a long time but on one of my old kits I had Paiste Signature cymbals. The hats especially were awesome. I kick myself to this day for selling them! Just be prepared to drop a pretty penny on them. Good luck.

my graduation money is whats going to keep me from working my first year in school....
but, i got a td-6 electric set as a graduation present from my parents.
i voted for the sig hats, but make sure theyre what you want. dont get them just because nicko uses them.

Get on E bay and look around. E bay has the best deals to be had. Don't forget to check a guy's feed back before you buy.

One of the best cymbals I ever heard in my life and that I had played was an 18" Rude crash..It had that weird blue finish on it..It was Amazing, but that was that one special cymbal and they're all different....Yeah replace the Hats in my opinion..Unless you run into that one special cymbal what ever it may be..You may not find one like it ever again..Till this day I wish I had talked that guy into selling me that cymbal..haha

I see this as a good idea for getting a good deal, but keep in mind..REAL IMPORTANT...Yes Paiste is known to be real consistant between cymbals but every cymbal has it's own sound..In my opinion you need to play and moreover hear the cymbal/s that you're gonna purchase...Trust me..!! Sorry but that's my opinion !!
