You always get what you pay for!

Personally, if you want the really low end stuff like that, I'd either check out the Paiste Brass 101 or the Meinl Tama stock cymbals. Brass 101's go for about 100 for a set, and the Tama stock cymbals you can probably pick up for 20$-30$ each. The Tama stock crashes actually sound pretty good for the price, but they're a bit hard to find.

Out of the typical starter sets though (which are a bit more expensive), I'd go with Sabian B8s. They sound good and tend to be fairly durable.

Sabian B8's or Meinl MCS. If you have a little more money, the sabian XS20's are even better.

My son has them and loves them. I use to have B8's and I think they sound better, accept for the Hats. The MCS Hats aren't the greatest, but I think they sound pretty good.

*Cough*

Saluda?

Just don't get Zildjian beginner cymbals, they are far worse, in my experience, than about any other beginner line.

Well, I've got the HCS cymbals, and I really dont have any complains about them.
Surely, they may sound different than other cymbals, but thats all about tastes isn't it? Every cymbal line is different, it just depends about what sounds you like.
I play metal, and they work fine, they really do. I play really hard, hit like a madman on those cymbals, and they're still like new.
So if you're looking for a cheap cymbal who lasts very long and looks great (and in my opinion also sounds great), buy them.

Well I heard Underoath and The Devil Wears Prada in concert and both of their drummers are awesome and use Meinl cymbals. I think they sounded awesome. I want to buy some Meinl Byzance Dark Hi-Hats[/img]
