Pro Mark Neil Peart Japanese Oak sticks
my prefered choice of stick.been through quite a few other pairs, and not many, imo, can stand up with these.i found Zildjian tend to break too easily, couldnt get comfy with vic firth, although they are a good stick and the AHEAD's only come out when there needed.
all in all, what do you think about these sticks??
note:please dont turn this into "these are better than that and thats final"
ta all!!

I can't comment on these particular sticks but I will say that since I switched to Pro Mark I've broken a lot fewer sticks. Was a die hard Vic Firth guy for years and then just tried a pair of the TXR747 natural Pro Marks and fell in love.

I don't use them anymore, but when I did I enjoyed them. Not a whole lot different from the 747 model, if I recall correctly.
Nice sticks.

I used to play Vic Firth Nylon-Tip 2B's. Once I developed wrist problems, I switched to a lighter stick. Was looking around, and believe it or not, at a gig, found a pair of Pro-Mark 707 Nylons. Tried 'em out and fell in love with them. It's the stick I use now. It's basically a 5A with a shorter taper and a nylon ball tip. And I also noticed that I broke less sticks. Happy day!
Anyone remember Tama Power Tools sticks? I used to use their 2B Nylon model. Great sticks, wonder what ever happened to them?

Tama had Vater make their sticks, my guess is that they didn't sell that well and were discontinued. Drum brands like Tama & Ludwig aren't what most drummers usually think of when it comes to sticks, so it's understandable that they don't sell a lot of sticks.
The Neil Peart sticks are very nice, they're not a huge stick but have some weight to them due to the oak, so they make a nice rock stick. I've used them on occasion and was very happy with them. I liked the Regal Tip finish better so that's what I use now though.

lovin' the replies here!!
agree with alot of people here, about breaking fewer sticks.it was actually the 747's that got me into pro-mark.no matter how much i beat em,they wouldnt break!tried the nylon tipped ones aswell, but wasnt too fond of them personally, something just doesnt feel right, even tho when i started learning,it was with a pair of nylon tipped..

I don't really like the wood tip white oaks, the tips shred to pieces. I haven't broken any, but they become unusuable for me after about a month. I'm still trying to find a small stick thats durable and has a tip that lasts.

i used the pearts for a couple years and loved them, but i played around with some different sticks and finally decided on the pro mark oak 5as...same diameter as the pearts but with a smaller tip.

I normally use Vic Firth 5As but I'm currently using the NP stix and they're doing the job fine. They're actually making me play as good as Neil............
.......not.

picked up a pair of those when my local music store was out of Promark oak 747 rocks, they seem pretty much the same to me. Fancy red ink though. Love the promark oak sticks, now if I could find them in 2S...
